Thinking the same as I watched.Damn. Stafford throws such a nice ball.
Ferg can do a nasssty TE screen. Smoothly slides from in-line stance out to the flat, the OL gets in place & down the field he plows.TE has been our worst overall position in Rams history. Now if we consider Kupp a TE that helps the outlook, but clearly he was a hybrid at best that perfectly fit McVay's scheme. This means we are so overdue for a top TE that it's almost criminal.
Nothing against Higs here either. Who is a good, solid all-rounder. But I want that weapon who can stretch the seam, highpoint the ball on the sideline in four minute, and kill teams in the redzone. And for now at least we have the QB to feed him.
Talking 12 sets Fergy isn't going to be functioning in that inline role for 2025. He will be highly focused in to pass game routes and usage. And this suits his game. So in his favor he will have McVay drawing it up to scheme him open, and a savvy vet QB who can open lanes with his eyes to get him the ball.
So I don't think OL history of the TE coach matters all that much here tbh, it will mean more for his development if and when he's good enough to push Higs out as the TE1. But that won't be this season, and I am fine with that. He should be good for 500-700 yards in this offense given the QB and scheme, even as a rook. Rams are going to be able to get him the ball a few times a game.
I mean, it's not like we ever run thoseFerg can do a nasssty TE screen. Smoothly slides from in-line stance out to the flat, the OL gets in place & down the field he plows.
Can't wait to see how we use this new wep, considering his draft value we gotta get him involved.
John Matthew Stafford sure throws a pretty ball, that's for sure!Ball so well thrown that Adams could catch it with T-Rex arms.
Yeah we do run them. Like shit.I mean, it's not like we ever run those
Tutu should definitely be on field moreI’d love to see more 12 but I think with Atwell getting his bump we’re likely to see him getting more snaps and they won’t be at the expense of Puka or Adams
I don't think the play and stats back that up, I think they were less used and less effective last year without Higbee but they've been a staple of the offense for a while and just off reflection, their 1st down rate for us is pretty good and I think we may use them near a league high last two years prior to Higbee injury (that's still comes out like only a 1 per game average). Anyone got a PFF sub that can look this up.Yeah we do run them. Like shit.![]()

Yea heard McVay speaking to one of the coaches, maybe Huff, after drafting Ferguson. " You ready to play some 12"Scott Huff did coach TE's at Boise State early in his career, so the position is not new to him and I like a former OL Coach, coaching the TE's. I expect improved play from this unit plus I am willing to bet the Rams will be in 12 personnel more often then not this year.
- Terrence Ferguson...The most athletic TE in this Draft Class, 12 personnel Baby!
Billy Truax & Bob Klein were never seen in the same room.YOUSONOFA ~ Billy Truax
I have no desire to look it up because the last time we looked good running screens was when Jimmy was at QB for one game.I don't think the play and stats back that up, I think they were less used and less effective last year without Higbee but they've been a staple of the offense for a while and just off reflection, their 1st down rate for us is pretty good and I think we may use them near a league high last two years prior to Higbee injury (that's still comes out like only a 1 per game average).
