I thought it would be nice to start a second thread showing the current staff, although there still needs to be formal confirmation. As I see it this is where we stand. (Note to Mods, if you think it's best to consolidate with the first coaching thread, no worries on my end.)

Head Coach - Sean McVay
Offense:
OC - TBD
QB Coach - Greg Olson
OL Coach - Aaron Kromer
WR Coach - Eric Yarber
RB Coach - Skip Peete
TE Coach - Shane Waldron
Offensive Assistant - Zach Kromer

Defense:

DC - Wade Phillips
Assistant HC/LB Coach - Joe Barry
DL Coach - Bill Johnson
DB Coaches - Ejiro Evero / Aubrey Pleasant/Samson Brown
Defensive Assistant - Chris Shula

Special Teams: John Fassel

I know some of these might not be 100% confirmed, and there is still the question of who will be our OC. LaFleur's name has been thrown out there by some reporters, but it's yet to be seen if the Falcons will allow teams to interview him. If I'm missing something or have listed something in error, please let me know and I will correct my OP. Here's to the start of a great 2017 season!

Isn't it kind of odd to hire a full staff of offensive assistants before a coordinator? Dont coordinators usually bring in their guys?

Normally, they'd also be calling the plays, but McVay will be handling that. I'm guessing our new OC will be kind of a developmental guy, so to speak. Someone with good instincts and a proven track record as an assistant coach, but not quite ready for prime time. Someone able to direct players in practice and the classroom, capable of teaching McVay's system along with the X's & O's, all while getting some great on the job training for himself. There will be no doubt this is McVays offense, and he'll pick HIS guys to assist.
By the same token, McVay himself will be learning the job of HC, and bringing in an old vet like Phillips will help him learn the defensive side of the game from a real pro. There is almost 40 years between their ages, Phillips won't be around forever, but having his experience available will help round out McVay's learning curve and bring an immeasurable wealth of information that he'll take with him for the remainder of his own career. jmo.

I think you missed the other DB coach. The ex Bronco, Samson Brown.
Thank you. I will have the Mods edit my OP. I can't because of the "likes" and "cheers."

Reading this made me think. I honestly believe (and many may have a different opinion) if Spags went this route with his coaching staff in St. Louis, it would have benefited him better. I am not saying that it would have won him more games, but it would have helped.

Done but what does that have to do with "likes" and "cheers?" There's a time limit on editing after a post is made.

That is the difference in a confident coach, and one who is insecure.

Basically exactly what I was gonna say.. Olson is mostly there to teach Goff about protections, both before the snap and how to protect himself after the snap. McVay probably picked up on that from watching film, Goff isn't someone who normally holds onto the ball very long, but there were times he did last year. There was a coaching failure that McVay saw and corrected. Why it wasn't corrected before is a question for Fisher.

Great idea....but I liked all the comments from the ROD (esp @jrry32 & @den-the-coach ) family about the coaches....I'm telling yall, jrry & den could be in ANY FO.....

Ps....what the hell happened to your other avatar with the booty shorts?

PSS...late edit...what the hell is up with all the DB coaches? If we have 3, we're about to draft some secondary players...Probably one of those FS....and a couple of corners...

Isn't it kind of odd to hire a full staff of offensive assistants before a coordinator? Don't coordinators usually bring in their guys?
I'm guess the OC (McVay) is telling the HC (McVay) who he likes...:ROFLMAO::rolllaugh::snicker:

That is the difference in a confident coach, and one who is insecure.
That could also be a sign that his contract or something else made them feel like they could be replaced. I'm guessing McVay was basically told he was our next "Chuck Noll" for LA...and would leave when he's ready. You don't hire that young of a HC, and not expect him to be here for quite a while.
But with your point...it's a clear sign to me that when you don't hire guys that could replace you, you're insecure in your position. The merry-go-round at OC the last 3 years was a sign. So were the crazy offensive assistant coaches. The only guy I feel a lil sorry for was Groh.

Saw a post on Facebook stating that LaFleur was official now as Rams OC.

Man, I am very, VERY impressed with the staff that McVay has put together - on both sides of the ball. It seems like he's landed almost everyone he's wanted, and he seems to know exactly what he's doing. I didn't think he'd be able to land LaFleur, especially after hearing the news that the Falcons were not going to let Shanahan take assistants with him. But lo and behold he did.

Very happy with this. What a great first impression McVay is making.

Well I thought it was with Jeff Fisher. A lot of these guys are young minds tho and could be willing to adjust with our personnel.

Naw, Fish's coaching expertise extends only to defense and special teams - the two areas he played in the pros. He tended to miss out on talented offensive teachers.
