What new real money does Noteboom have coming, if he’s cut?

I ask because Snead (I think?) confirmed they’re working with him to try and keep him around.

The signing bonus and restructuring should have both been paid to him already. They’re spread out as a cap mechanism, but the money on both is upfront, from what I understand.

I’ve read that they can cut him with the post-June 1 designation now and avoid paying his 5 mil roster bonus.

So, my understanding.. if they cut him.. he is getting no more money from the team.

That would explain why they’re “working something out.”

Am I wrong about no new $ owed if he’s cut?

(The post June 1 designation has cap ramifications, I understand)

McVay loves Noteboom. He's coming back. He's valuable coming off the bench if someone goes down. He can totally hold up at left tackle for a half or a game or two and play at a high level. He has value.

His salary of 10 mill is not guaranteed.
He is due a roster bonus of 5 mill on 3/18
He has dead cap hit of 5 mill in ‘24, ‘25 & ‘26
So if cut prior to 3/18, he has no money coming.
But team gets hit with 15 mill dead cap

That’s my understanding.
So, I wonder what a new deal will look like, and how it could help the cap.
I just don’t think Boom gets more than 5 mil a year on the market. Not with his injury history.

I think Boom's value on an open market would surprise some.
I think teams would view him as a potential starter at T and respect his versatility.

Not sure there is such a thing of a contract that can help the cap and keep him.
Agree to a salary cut to 5 mill? Ok, but there would still be the 5 mill roster bonus and 5 mill dead money- 15 mill of space
Asking him to give up more salary or roster bonus? Not a chance.

What I dont know is how the void years work. For instance, if they added a contract extension, does it replace a void year, or push the void year back. Adding a year could help spread out salary/bonus and potentially dead money.

Noteboom is due $20M, of which $15M is contractually guaranteed and now they will also owe him $5M more in roster bonus if he's on the roster when the new season officially starts on March 13th I believe.

This is why I said they could propose to spread his remaining money over 4 years inclusive of the roster bonus and a structure bonus of $1M making it a bit over $5M / year fully guaranteed. He gets to play out his career in LA and walk away with $21M. This would allow them to sign their RFAs . The Rams get a versatile swing OT or a bridge starter at RT or RG depending upon how the Dotson negotiations go and what they decide about Havenstein. They kept backloading his contract now it's pay the piper as a $14.7M starter or with a post June 1 release and a $8.2M deadcap and gain $6.5M in cap space. That recovered cap over the next 4 years would allow them to afford paying Dotson $15M / year average which is what it would take IMO to extend Kevin. Having Noteboom at RT wouldn't surprise me. I think this is really behind the Ram's interest in extending Joe in a win-win scenario. Noteboom would be an average RT and be paid like one.

It also gives them a potential bridge starter at LT if Jackson expects big $$ next year. I think they will get something done along those lines. Tendering Jackson with a second round tender will give them an affordable LT for the year. How well he plays and his contract demands will determine his staying or leaving the Rams. Jackson is a good not great LT with a lot of technique issues to fix.

I expect them to sign Shelton with a cap hit of between $8-$9M / year. I think it will take $15M/year to keep Dotson.

@oldnotdead if Shelton thinks he’s getting $8-9M a year, I’m sure Snead will thank him for his contributions as a Ram and wish him well on his new team.

Dotson will probably be closer to $17M. He’d make top 5 money at guard and is worth it.

I like the Rams to take either Frazier in a trade back in the first or maybe Van Pran in the early third. The latter still needs some coaching up and I am curious on his injury history as he wears two knee braces, but moves well. Looked good in wide zone, but his leverage play needs work.

I’m thinking not just my problem with Boom and also the FO’s problem is he constantly gets hurt and isn’t reliable. When he’s playing he’s pretty damned good, that is when he’s playing.

This is totally false and I’ve responded to you multiple times with the info.
