Eagles have reportedly shown interest in Nick Fairley

As the Eagles look to bolster their defense, they may be looking at a guy who didn’t even play for the Bills.

Of course, Nick Fairley has the requisite Jim Schwartz tie, as he was the 13th overall pick in 2011 when Schwartz was the head coach of the Lions, so that still counts.

According to Mark Eckel of NJ.com, the Eagles have shown some interest in the Rams free agent defensive tackle, among three or four other teams. The Jets are reported to be another of those teams.

The Eagles need to add numbers to their defensive line, behind starters Fletcher Cox and Bennie Logan.

While Fairley has underwhelmed in relation to his draft status, he’s still a decent rotational player, and could give the Eagles (or the Jets) a good option as a second-wave pass-rusher.

It doesn't appear that Fairley is interested in returning. We gave him a 1 year, prove-it deal and he proved himself. Now he is probably after the highest bidder.

Hopefully we find a way to keep Fairly but he might be out of our price range.

We have his replacement already on the Team. " Trinca-Pasat!!"

I wasn't really impressed by Fairley. Lot's of off side penalties on 3rd downs IIRC. He calmed down late but is he really worth 5-6-7 Million a year?

Agree, drive up those compensation picks. We might actually get one or two next year which didn't happen with previous GMs.

Right now they have one or two, and fairly high ones. I want the Fairley signing to more than outweigh the Sensabaugh signing. That would put the Rams still in position for a third and a fourth, maybe even for a 7th, although teams are now setting themselves up to get so many picks 7ths weren't doled out this year.

I was going to say the same thing. I'd take him back but overall I'd say I was disappointed with what he brought. Maybe unreasonable expectations, and playing with Donald may have made him appear human, I don't know. But given the choice, I keep Brockers over Fairley.

I think Rams won't even offer him a contract. DT is stacked in this years draft. Could get a 1st round talent in round 2.

I think they've talked with him - he undoubtedly wants a starter contract, and on the Rams he's a backup. If his contract offers are small enough, then they could sign him.

I can't blame him. This is the last real chance he has for a big NFL contract, he should pursue it. The Rams can't give a rotation DL as much as he wants, though.

Report: Patriots out on Nick Fairley, expected to sign with Saints

Defensive tackle Nick Fairley has drawn interest from several teams since the start of free agency earlier this month and it looks like he’s closing in on a decision about where he’ll sign for the 2016 season.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Fairley is expected to sign with the Saints, who met with Fairley last week. Rapoport reports the Patriots are out of the running for his services and presumably the Jets and Eagles, who also showed interest, have fallen out of the running as well.

Fairley would likely slot in next to nose tackle John Jenkins on the interior of the New Orleans line. That would likely lead to more playing time than Fairley saw as a member of the Rams last season. Fairley played behind Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers and saw 422 snaps on defense over the course of the year.

Fairley had 29 tackles and a half-sack over those snaps and had 98 tackles and 13.5 sacks over four years with the Lions.

I'm happy for him.

He's a really good player and deserves to get paid, but his role should be relatively easy to replace.

Better be a big deal. Otherwise we wasted more time and money for no reason.
