Also I'll add that it's great to see us running a power scheme at such a high percentage. And watching Williams do his thing behind it is really something. I mean you can teach a back to square himself and lure those backers before popping off like he does but for him it's instinctive. He's really good at it. I think this combination we have going right now of the 5 guys up front with Williams in particular behind them, plus Stafford's arm threat, well it's a really damn nice combination.

This offense is starting to show signs of being that 30 ppg unit we all want to see. So cred to all involved but it feels good to see our line playing as well as they have been. They're not perfect but the Browns are a real good defense and our OL got the job done. Ravens are even tougher I think but there is some room for hope that we might see another good outing from the boys. Still think that game is a loss but it would be nice to see us give them a dog fight and the boys up front continue to improve.

With Stafford as the QB, the Rams have a top five offense according to Tice on the podcast

interesting that he gives a bunch of metrics showing the rams offense is top 5 in many advanced stats.

Okay guys what does this all remind you of? The 2018 offense where they used lots of motion and the same looks to run different plays. I said back in TC that McVay needs to get back to his 2018 offense. Now that he has Williams at RB he can do it.

I loved this breakdown because it was the same concept in 2018 where teams struggled to stop this offense. I pitied the defense because they have no keys. A shit load of plays off the same look. It also showed how good this OL is. It allows McVay to run this type of offensive scheme. You gotta love it.

They are hitting on all cylinders when they need to most. Offensively they can sweep all the games left on their schedule. The defense is the only issue. Limit the opposition's possessions. Morris must play for punts not FGs. If the defense can do their part the Rams can sweep the schedule. This is as healthy as this team has been in years at this point of the season.

Rebuild? Hell, they are a playoff team and they are beginning to play like it. I'm sure the Ravens like most people penciled in this game as a Raven win back in September. But the Rams have played good teams tough all season. They are rounding into form and now they not only can compete they can win.

Building on this is this weeks game preview episode of the Football show on The Athletic. Nate and Robert gush about the Rams offense. The numbers they have go to show just how incredible McVay is and how amazing the value they gotten out of Nacua and Kyren Williams.

It’s fun to listen to the national guys go deep on the Rams and what they’re doing. They had very high praise for McVay, Raheem, and Les Snead.

Having a skilled running back McVay trusts just seems to "activate" (to use a McVay term) or maximize this offense.

It also reduces his worst tendencies as a play caller.

If the Rams somehow win this game, I'm going to be thinking some crazy thoughts. Maybe we are in the 49's heads, when it comes to the playoffs, and there isn't another team they would rather not face. Those pesky miracle Rams. I'm all in at this point but I'll be in la la land if they win tomorrow.

IMO the only way they lose is by giving it away via penalties and turnovers, i.e. things they have control over. The Rams have an offense that can beat them. The defense has to play tight and aggressive all game.

Nice breakdown that shows how Mcvay is continuing to innovate.

We are getting production in the run game due to some creative and hard work on the whiteboard.

It really does remind of 2018 when Mcvay used lots of baiting the defense with similar plays that fooled the defense.

Of course, this 2023 iteration is completely different in the type of plays we are running. The heavy motion with Puka and the WR's and running the power and zone concepts out of those designs is completely different then 2018.

It goes without saying, This wouldn't be as effective without Kyren's abilities and the blocking of an upgraded Oline. Also, Kupp and Puka are excellent blockers in this scheme.

I also like how these designs allow for keeping a WR in for pass blocking on the edge.

You have to wonder how long it will take defenses to adjust and stop this new wrinkle and the different variations off of it.

Also, he didn't mention it, but getting the bigger Robinson involved over Tutu is another development to keep an eye on. Tutu can have a roll with his speed, but the run game is critical to the Rams success and the bigger blocking WR's are a huge part of that success.
