Hello guys - how to start.. right now i am on holiday in San Francisco because my mother used to live here about 25 years ago. During the last couple of nights the idea of renting a car and not only making this my first US trip but the first time seeing my Rams live grew in me - to bad i left my SJ39 jersey at home.
So i wanted to ask you locals for some help:
Should i buy tickets online via the official rams site or is there any better way, maybe even buy them before the game?
Whats about parking - is there a possibility to park (cheap ) in LA and go to the stadium with public transport?
if you would have about 32 hours in LA (planing to arrive saturday evening/afternoon) what would you do - especially on weekends. (i saw ucla and usc are playing - but want the rams to be my "first time" at the coliseum :D).
And are there places you should generally avoid as an european tourist with the clueless look on his sunburned face?
Thank you very much for your help - can't tell you how excited i am :yay::yay::yay:

For transportation, if you want, just forget renting a car altogether and take Amtrak from the Bay Area to L.A. Union Station, then take the Metro Expo Line to USC/Coliseum. You can hang out in the bar car to L.A. and shuttle to the Coliseum with the Metro. Just check their schedules for Sunday service.

griffith observatory was pretty cool. I went there for sunset so I could both see the LA area both in the light and in the dark. Tons of food options. Taco trucks are very popular.

If you have kids, Im sure they would love Disneyland and Universal studios. But those are both ALL day experiences.

Only been to LA once for 3 days recently. :p

Had a buddy play for the Vienna Vikings a few years back Shawn Olson

thank you, its pretty much the same as ticketmaster (to which the official site links you) is, isn't it?
i have a friend which is playing in the AFL right now - have to ask him if he played against Shawn Olson, small world.

i'm pretty much into the car idea because it gives you the chance to stop for the (what i heard) beautiful countryside. but thanks for the tip with the metro expo line - seems to be pretty much what i was looking for (y)

In answer to your other question, "if you would have about 32 hours in LA (planing to arrive saturday evening/afternoon) what would you do - especially on weekends."

Of course, this might depend on your age and interests or whether children are involved, but with the limited time in L.A., i'd imagine you might not get too far from the downtown area if it's going to be the Metro Expo for you, ... there are great options all along the beach for walking, dining and viewing, Santa Monica is only minutes away from the Coliseum, and just traveling anywhere along the coast from Malibu to Laguna will provide hours/days of entertainment. L.A./Hollywood has some great Comedy Clubs, local theatre troup's & musical acts covering every taste & desire.
Since you are already going to the Coliseum, consider taking in the world class Natural History Museum, which is basically across the street. You could get to the Coliseum early & kill several hours at the museum before/after the game, it's truly an undervalued experience. Opens at 9:30 and closes at 5:00, including Sundays. The California Science Center is also located nearby, and with an IMAX theatre experience.

Being european and all I suggest seeing what the LA area does better than anywhere else, no not smog nor traffic jams......to be more specific visit the San Fernando Valley. Be sure you are dressed correctly to include a beret, extremely dark sunglasses, scarf and lots of hand sanitizer and most importantly your european accent. Drive the side streets until you see a house with lots of cars in the driveway and on the street with women in robes going into the house or hanging around outside smoking. Walk up that driveway and into that house like you own it.

The 5 freeway from SF to LA isn't that scenic. The Pacific Coast Highway (highway 1) is much better. However it is a longer drive and PCH is subject to closures from things like landslides so check google.

If you are going to use the train try the blue line from Santa Monica, leaving in the other direction is a madhouse ! -- the Fatboy

I'd take Uber from where you're staying because parking in and out of the L.A Coliseum is crazily packed.

As for places to see depending if you're with family, I'd recommend Getty Center and/or Getty Villa (in Malibu). Also the Huntington Library in San Marino is a great place to check out.

The Santa Monica pier and Zuma State Beach are great places to pass the time.

I agree on checking out Santa Monica. It's a beautiful city. It's also the first/last line of the Metro that goes directly to the Coliseum. Catch the Metro there and head to the game!

I-5 is the fastest route but it's boring and even less than scenic. The PCH is beautiful but it is closed south of Big Sur. You can cut over to 101 before the Mud Slide closure on Naciemento Rd I believe. If you want a balance between scenery and speed, take 101 south and find a route to take you out to the PCH. The 101 and the PCH merge briefly in San Luis Obispo and then again further south in Las Cruces I believe. A touristy side trip off of 101, between SLO and Santa Barbara, is Solvang. You can scratch your European itch there! ;) 101 is on the coast from Gaviota (just south of Las Cruces) to Ventura. You can pick up the PCH again in the Oxnard area and drive along the coast again through Malibu and down to Santa Monica. Traffic can get bad though in Malibu and Santa Monica. There was a bunch on construction going on in Santa Monica when I was through there last in spring.

Parking around the Coliseum? Unless you want to part with $80-100 or more, I don't recommend it. We take Lyft/Uber and get dropped off within a block or two of the stadium gridlock. The Metro train is a good option if you don't mind the lines and the sardine can experience. The Santa Monica line though didn't appear to be as heavily used when we walked by the Exposition Metro station. The downtown line? Sardine can...
