I was ABSOLUTELY EXCITED when we traded for him. I've always loved Stafford. Ask my family and friends who are mainly packer fans with a Cowboys and Vikings fan sprinkled in, but I always loved him in Detroit and knew he was a baller.

He came in and has been a stud since Day 1, a leader and a badass.

With that said, I know it's only been 1 season and 1 season only BUT, I just confess this,

Matthew Stafford is my FAVORITE Rams QB of all time. And it's not close.

Thank you Stan Kroenke, Les Snead, and Dean McVay for making it happen.. and THANK YOU MATTHEW STAFFORD for wanting to be a Ram and making your way here. Forever thankful, grateful, and proud of you.

My secret is I use to watch Stafford porn.

There is so much good footage of him mic'd up on youtube well before he became a Ram.

Dedicated to a fault. I have ran into many Lions fans that are now Rams fans as their backup. Just that powerful.

Well, I've rooted for him to win a god damn Thanksgiving Day game for as long as he's played them, so there's that!

Been a fan of his since he came into the league. Elite talent and clutch ass performer. I was ecstatic when the trade went down just because of his high level QB play and how much Goff soured in my eyes, but what got me the most excited was how Stafford's ex-teammates talked about him and rooted for him. When the people you go to war with sing your praises and love you that really says a lot.

Crazy how after only one year, he learned McVay's complicated offense and put up insane numbers. 6,074 yds/ 52 TDs /20 ints in his first season as a ram. He enabled Kupp to have the most productive receiving year of all time as well. Just insane stuff. Next year I think he will be even better. He has the confidence now of a SB Champion and heading into year 2 of this system usually leads to a big performance jump. I'm calling MVP next season.

Once Sean Mannion broke my heart by leaving us, there was void that Wolfy could not fill. Then came Matthew.....

Im hoping that winning the Super Bowl will take some pressure off and maybe they will be even better on offense next season. Could you fellas imagine if the Rams would’ve had Woods Kupp Odell and Higs all on the field at the same time? Hell that was the plan it didn’t come to fruition and they still won the Super Bowl! Stafford is now in my eyes an elite Qb and i for one can’t wait to see em let it fly next year.

I agree 100%! And feel the same about Goff. NO WAY do we come close to winning this year with him!! Stafford is a whole nother level!

The only SEAN we speak if around her is McVay!!

Stafford has become my favorite Rams QB ever as well.

I just like "him", Stafford the human, more than Warner..

KW is the man. I'll always appreciate what he did. But what Stafford did is more impressive and I think back to all of the dysfunction in Detroit and how he's handled it vs how Warner (and Brenda) handled it...

Staffords post season run is almost too impressive to fully appreciate it...

He's the Rams best QB in my lifetime.

This is what isn't talked about enough. The pressure Stafford was facing was almost indescribable. 12 years of people saying "he's talented but can't get it done. Otherwise why didn't he win at least one playoff game?" Then getting traded for Goff who was a 1st overall pick, and two 1s + a 3rd. Every media talking head saying "super bowl or bust" for the Rams. It would take a SB to "justify" the Goff trade. All while moving your wife and four daughters across country, learning arguably the most complicated offense in the NFL, and having to build chemistry with a new group of pass catchers. The pressure and challenges he faced in year one is absolutely insane.

I can say I was thrilled the moment the trade happened. Was watching a movie with my wife and literally jumped up screaming WHAT?!!!? 20 times.

I wasn't sure it would result in a Super Bowl win but I knew it instantly made us better.

I've always felt we don't take situations into account realistically, and this goes to show you that a supporting cast is more than just the 10 offensive players around a QB. It's a defense, GM, coaching staff and everyone else.

Some here trashed our WRs last year. Many said "Stafford had Megatron and couldn't win" - almost as if he read ROD, Stafford helped Kupp produce a season FAR beyond anything Calvin did, killing two birds with one stone.

When I read your thread title ("My Confession Regarding Matthew Stafford'), I thought you were going to confess a regrettable drunken-night in college when things got out-of-hand.

At first, i did think he was a stat padder just throw balls to Megatron. But over the years it made me realize it was Detroit all alone. When you see stats like in 12 years with the lions, he had a 1k rusher once, it really opens your eyes. I didn't know if he'd led us to the Superbowl, but i knew he was an upgrade.

Id like to thank the lions, because of your awful management, Stafford had seen every doomsday scenario in football. Made this playoff run a breeze.

I had a different version of him in my head than who he was. Then I watched his film and didn't take long to see what they liked about him.

Had myself sky high at one point over the addition too. Probably unrealistically high. But he mostly lived up to those expectations. It's just a really impressive addition to this team. And judging from those four playoff games we're in for a lot of fun in the next few years.

Cigar in his teeth / tequila in hand….

“Fuck them picks (ixes)”

Our alarming and nearly complete inability to run the ball with any depree of consistancy the last the three games of the 2021 season makes Stafford's ability stand out all the more.

McVay got who he wanted and who he wanted came through in a big way in the biggest win in LA Ram history.

This year also shows that old formula which holds that an elite QB, elite pass protection, and a elite pass rush on the opposing QB are what's needed to "win it all" still has merit.

My concerns were two fold...

One, was was his age coupled with his style of play that results in getting hit a lot. I hope he can give us 3 more high quality seasons at least. Eventually, if he keeps playing, he will look like Rothilsberger... Slow afoot and beat up. Hopefully that won't be for another 5 yrs.

The other was the hero ball mentality he learned or was reinforced in Detroit. His seemingly inability to manage a close game that often showed up during the first 10 wks of the season. Throwing a low % deep pass on 3rd & 4. He did do that once on Sunday. I realized that watching the replay. It was the deep pass down the right sideline to Jefferson... Who should have caught it, but take the underneath pass there and keep the drive going because they were at midfield.

The INT in the endzone I don't fault him much...was 3rd & 14 and the play broke down and he took a shot...and Jefferson needs to break that up.

Anyway, he did improve in that area and yes his talent is as good as anyone. So if he continues to improve, getting used to not having to score 30 to win a game or simply getting used to playing in games where game management matters, he and the Rams should be even better next yr.

Just have to prioritize the OL these next 4-5 yrs to keep him as healthy as possible.

Honestly the main thing I remember about Stafford before we traded for him was watching his mic'd up videos during the Sam Bradford days (who I used to love, but whoo boy dark days) and wishing we had a QB with that much heart. Who wouldn't run through a brick wall for this guy??
