I happened to watch again, what I think is an underrated movie called the Accountant. I liked the movie not only for the action but because of two of the characters portrayed in it. The primary character is a high-functioning autistic math savant. My very first employee was a 17 year old high schooler who was autistic. He was dedicated and hardworking. He worked for me for 30 years and eventually was managing the retail store for me. He was no savant by any means but was honest and trustworthy. When I retired I gave the store to him because it was the sole income for him and his son who also was working there. He offered to buy it but he had earned it.

The other character was the accountant's brother who reminds me a service friend of mine with whom I still share a strong bond. He was a recon Marine I met while he rehabbed at Balboa Hospital. He became a contractor for the State Dept and eventually formed his own company. He retired when I did in 2017 and he moved to a huge estate in Costa Rica. The stories he has told me through the years are what remind me of the movie.

My brother relates to the movie Platoon because he was in the same division at the same time portrayed in the movie. He says much (not all) was fairly realistic.

What about songs? Nightmare by Set It Off would fit my life pretty damn well, down to my suicide attempt and mental illnesses. But I'd also need a song where I get up and go for my dream. So basically, two songs, seemingly opposite meanings, but both fit my life perfectly.

War games... I was just getting started in I.T. and I think the movie inspired me to see it was a career. I was just furloughed from Conrail after 13 years and wanted to get into a field that was in demand. It has worked out well.

Peggy Sue Got Married. Choices we make determining the lives we lead.
Yeah, I can relate to that. Every decision we make takes us to where we go. You can sit and think, "What if I did this, or made a different decision." But in the long run, the only time it matters is if you are not happy now. I know of several decisions in my life that would have changed my current position. And in reality, I'm glad I am where I am. I may have not lived the life of my dreams, but I've had a damn good one so far.

And if your current position doesn't make you happy.

There's still time to change the road you're on."

Finding Forrester

Sean Connery... I haven’t watched in 15yrs, but I really liked that one as a movie nobody was talking about.

I think I found appeal in how two people bonded over one singular thing, where all other differences between them were huge.

Storyline; Jamal Wallace is an inner-city kid from the Bronx who has an aptness at basketball and a genius at writing. While always a C student, Jamal comes to the attention of a prestigious New York City prep school when he scores highly on his standardized tests. While Jamal is given a heavy load at his new school, both he and the school know that the real reason they took him on is for his prowess on the court. Befriended by fellow student Claire and helped along by Pulitzer Prize winning author and recluse William Forrester, Jamal pursues his dreams on and off the court while overcoming obstacles placed by his bitter literature teacher. As Jamal is shaped by Forrester, he finds that he is changing the old writer as well, forcing him to confront his past, and his future.
