Anyone happy about any of these? Personally, I hate CBS Sports mock. Just absolutely neglect our biggest needs IMO.

One has O'Cyrus Torrence going at 16, and one at 47. I can't imagine him still being there at 36, but if he is, he could really change our offense's dynamic.

I'd take him over Harrison IMO. He's a beast and just what we need on the interior.

I hate the CBS draft too. But if they were to hit on Harrison it would be a big deal. Of course probably doesn't help us this year but still it would be a hell of a thing to solve LT.

Harrison was the least popular pick in both of my mocks.

Nobody wants a big OL who needs time to develop.

Also I have not really looked at OL that much because the writing on the wall insinuates the Rams will draft one later if at all. So no idea with this guy.

Exactly- that’s all The Rams need is another O”Lineman from Oklahoma.Then again passing on Creed didn’t workout all that well. Maybe — I won’t open any old wounds.

No. 36: Will McDonald IV, Edge, Iowa State
No. 69: Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA
No. 77 (via NE): Luke Schoonmaker, TE, Michigan

I honestly haven't had time to look into Schoonmaker. I really like the first 2 picks as prospects and McDonald is likely my top choice for #36. Not sure if I'd be thrilled or disappointed with Charbonnet at 69. Big fan, just not sure thats what we should use that pick on. The prospects that go just before Charbonnet would piss me off: Adebawore (who I'd be happy with at 36), Cam Smith, Michael Schmitz. Brents, G. Williams, Steen and Hooker are still on the board after him also.

Imagine having the chance to get JMS, Adebawore, or Cam Smith with our 3rd round pick. Would be incredible.

Take Schoomaker at 69 and Brents at 77 and it's golden. This RB so early just annoys me such a wasted pick. You add McDonald and Brents and our defense is miles better and is the unit we need to upgrade badly.

I'm all aboard McDonald/Brents acquisitions. Those are 2 guys that can lead our defense for years. I will have to do some work on Schoonmaker, but, initial looks into him have my interest.

And Charbonnet would ensure that if/when Akers falls out we have a legit bell-cow threat to eat carries and keep this offense moving. And Schoonmaker would allow movement of Higbee because him and Long would be good enough to go with, or you keep Higs and have a really solid room.

As much as I very much enjoyed watching Charbonnet play the last few years, its hard to truly evaluate his ceiling. He had an excellent OL getting him some gaping holes to run through. I'm of the opinion that most solid RB's would have been fairly successful running the ball at UCLA. His athletic testing doesn't stand out. He doesn't make defenders miss tackles often and his pass pro needs work for sure. I think I'd rather go with a later back and address a more pressing need at this pick (OL, CB, DL).

Would I get a Charbonnet jersey if we drafted him? Yes!

Charbonnet will be Charbonnet in the NFL. The power backs tend to translate well to this league, the problem is you can find those type of runners outside of the early going. But I do think he's got enough to him to warrant a midround selection, like round 3, maybe round 2 if it's a team that has a stacked roster and wants that element.

AJ Dillon is a good example here I think. McVay probably wasn't high on him but his power style slid right into this offense and translated. Charbonnet would be much the same IMO.

On the other side of that coin you have as mentioned that fact that you can get good backs deep into this draft, and ones that McVay favors more than the power types. Plus the Rams have many needs, and it could be argued RB is a depth need depending how much they believe in Akers.

So. For the record I am good with Charbonnet for sure. I just doubt McVay is and if he is given that RB to what extent will he be utilized. All of which makes me think them going with a more McVay-ish back a bit later will be the path they choose.

100%. Was about to post something similar. Watched the bruins and charbs a lot. That OL was fantastic especially run blocking. He will have a complete different world if running behind the Rams OL. Big fan of charbs, but I wonder what he is with an average (I’m being nice) run blocking OL like the Rams.
