A parking violation.

Parking violation. Keep that in mind..........this is a parking violation.

5 or so cops in a parking lot. For a parking violation.

The Chief of Police apologized in a presser. The cops got suspended.

But that doesn't change the fact that this HAPPENED.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23586406/video-shows-arrest-tasing-sterling-brown-milwaukee-bucks

And some of you wonder why players take a knee to draw attention???

If this had been me, I'm white and in my 50's, they would have escorted me to my car. I wouldn't have been hit with a tazer and taken to the ground.

What the fuck is wrong here..........

What the freak is wrong here..........

our societal structure is failing. i dont see any way to turn it around as long as everyone has to be right, get a trophy, sue those who upset them , make a grandstand out of nothing. i wont miss it.

I am not familiar with the crime situation in Milwaukee, but I agree that if he just respectfully moved his car then there is nothing to see. Was a teaser necessary? No. We're five cops needed? Not likely.

If the crime in Milwaukee is anything like Chicago, the cops are probably scared, and trigger happy. There is a lot of emotion that comes in a situation like this that should never happen, but unfortunately can. I have mentioned my conversation with the very large African American cop that I had the morning that I left Chicago. I didn't go into a lot of detail, but it was a real eye opener when it comes to stuff like this. The frustration of never being able to put criminals away, constant disrespect from the people, fear of being killed or outnumbered, and the feeling of being stuck in a terrible situation everyday, all can culminate in frustrations that lead to instances like this.

Was it wrong? Definitely. But city cops, though trained, aren't like cops are depicted on television. Many are not emotionally equipped to deal with their jobs and it leads to stupid things like this.

The point is that the vast majority of cops are good, decent people who risk their lives for us every day. Unfortunately there is a certain percentage of scumbags in every profession that hurt the image of the rest. I'll leave it to one of the other mods to lock this thread if they feel it's necessary.

100% correct, and I wouldn't want to be a police officer in this day and age. It was horrific for awhile when people were ambushing cops, that seems to have slowed down but for a few months it was happeneing at an alarming rate. It seemed like every week an officer was getting shot after being called to a "scene of a crime".

He didn't have a chance to do anything, and they didn't ask him to move his car in the video that I saw. They were questioning him like he was a suspect in a crime. He was detained then several cops dragged him to the ground and he was tazed. Why was he cuffed?

The police only released a portion of the bodycam video. I'm sure what they didn't release is worse than the stuff they did release. Which is a terrible thought.

It's really unfortunate. Here we had a serious incident that could have sparked some good discussion. Instead you chose to throw down that gauntlet and bring yourself to the lowest common denominator. More threads have been locked because of the kneeling topic on this board than probably every other topic combined, except maybe during the relocation. Police brutality is a very serious issue, as is people falsely accusing police of brutality. Instead of running with that people were challenged on kneeling during the anthem.

Discuss it then. It is a very serious issue.

Three officers have been suspended, I don't know all those details and don't know if anyone has been fired but I would assume that very well could happen. If officers who do this are given a couple of weeks off and then brought back to the force that doesn't help IMO. And they hurt the image and reputation of the majority of cops who would never do this type of thing. Evidently Milwaukee and Wisconsin in general has very serious problems with this type of thing.

The really effed up thing is these idiot cops had body cams on, this was all recorded. Why do this type of thing? Write the ticket and go on your way. I don't know what the parking violation was, at 2 am in a Walgreens parking lot my guess would be that he was either in a handicapped space or was taking up 2 spaces by straddling the lines with his car. What else could it be?

Here is a little detail about the encounter. When I have time I'm going to see if the entire video has been released, I have only seen the short version.

The video footage dates from about 2am on 26 January in a Walgreens parking lot. As Brown walks out of the store, an officer standing by Brown’s car asks him for his driver’s license. When Brown gets close to his car’s passenger door, the officer touches Brown and he tells the officer not to touch him.

“Back up! Back up!” the officer yells.

“For what? I ain’t did nothing,” Brown responds. He eventually shows the officer his driver’s license.

The conversation between the officer and Brown is testy as they wait for additional squad cars to show up. Brown says he has no problem with the officer’s questions and the officer responds that he touched him “because you got up in my face”.

“Really?” Brown responds in disbelief.

Brown, surrounded by four officers, is asked to take his hands out of his pockets. Almost immediately a scuffle ensues, with the officers swarming over Brown and one yelling “Taser, Taser, Taser!” Brown is heard groaning in pain on the ground.

Later in the video, the officer who had the initial interaction with Brown mocks him while talking to another officer about what happened, saying he thought Brown “was being an ass” and “trying to hide something”.

Watch Making A Murderer... pretty sure it's on Netflix.

After watching that... I made a promise to myself to never set foot in the state of Wisconsin.

Sadly, this kind of unforgivable behavior is exactly what I would expect to see happening in that state.

There is NO WAY in hell a person should be convicted when there is absolutely no evidence of guilt other than a coerced confession. I didn't watch that show but heard a little about it and was told he was convicted on zero evidence. How can a judge even let that get into a courtroom.

I might check it out..........it'll probably piss me the fuck off though.

Do you think there are states immune to corruption?

I know we all wish there were! And I can assure you Florida is one of the worst, so I know @Selassie I was joking and didn't use the blue font.

The recent hurricane has proven that when there is money involved people will lie, companies will profit and consumers will pay for it in the end. My car insurance went up from 72 bucks a month to 94 bucks a month right after the hurricane. They have to recoup the losses from the massive amounts of insurance fraud from contractors so they are fucking over customers any way they can. Roofers were handing out quotes without even getting on a roof. Terrible. But that's Florida contractors. They have that reputation.

Anyway..........

Evidently Wisconsin and in particular Milwaukee have issues, beyond what many areas do and have a nasty history. In reality it makes people, including the cops, less safe.

I have been to Milwaukee many, many times. I am from Cleveland and it always reminded me of Cleveland. Similar Great Lakes/Midwest cities. Similar architecture even. The demographics are similar too so it's a diverse area and not like minorities are rarely seen. I wonder what has driven this type of thing in this particular area.

I'll check out the show when I have time.

@Selassie I I'm starting S1E3 right now and I'm already in the mood to gouge out the eyes of some of those people. With my thumb.

Fucking disgusting and I am afraid that it's going to get a lot worse. Good grief I hope this ends with some people going to jail.

@Elmgrovegnome and @Angry Ram he wasn't allowed to get near his car, and was asked to step back from it which he did. He wasn't asked to move his car.

This is a parking violation that it a written ticket, and that's all. Multiple bored cops decide to fuck with a guy and that's what this is all about.

Cops can question. That's part of their job. I've had that experience before. Not one, but two officers once pulled up to my house and questioned me for a few minutes for get this.... an alarm call. I was simply working on a biology project in the garage. The difference was I didn't approaching them and worked with them, not against them.

Seems like Sterling Brown had ample opportunity to avoid this whole thing. Like parking like a normal person. Or not being an ass when the police asked him about it. I don't agree with what happened after...but hey, if all this was over a parking ticket, why didn't Sterling Brown just move his damn car when asked? Why is common courtesy and cooperation so hard to follow?
