ROUND TWO

OFF THE BOARD

Creed Humphrey, C, Oklahoma
Quinn Meinerz,G/C, Wisconsin Whitewater
Liam Eichenberg, T, Notre Dame

TRADE: Rams trade their 2nd round selection (#57) to the Cleveland Browns for their 2nd round choice (#59) & the 5th round choice (#159) obtained from the Rams for Austin Corbett. Browns jump ahead of rival Ravens.

2-59) Jabril Cox, LB, LSU 6'2 7/8", 235 (from Browns)

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIYuoGMXRGQ&t=8s

Former Ram S John Johnson wouldn't have had to spend so much time in the box if the Rams had a LB who offered anything in coverage. Cox is a playmaking LB capable making up for that loss with a bigger body, and fulfills what may be Snead's Senior Bowl requirement (38.5 TFLs, 15 sacks, 26 passes defended and four fumble recoveries in 55 career games).

3-88) Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford, 6'1" 198

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG5cBMTfzFc

Darious Williams will be an UFA next year. David Long Jr. hasn't shown much yet. And if Ramsey ever gets hurt, the secondary is toast. Here the Rams select a 2020 Opt-out who has good size, speed, and playmaking abilty (8 interceptions and 24 passes defensed in two seasons). His HC Shaw believes that had he played a full season, he'd be a 1st rounder.

3-103) Kendrick Green, G/C, Illinois, 6'4" 315

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3it7ChiyCQ

Here we have a converted DT who has started 33 straight games during his final 3 seasons (29 at guard, 4 at center). Green didn't allow a sack last season and is very good run blocker. If he wasn't, he probably should have been on Feldman's Annual Freak List after his 4.85/40 and 35 1/2" VJ during his Pro Day.

4-141) Jaylen Moore, OT, Western Michigan 6'4 1/8 311

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77j1qc3Rwwo

Rams go back to Senior Bowl here for the other Western Michigan prospect not named Eskridge. Moore a potential future replacement for Whitworth and his 33 3/8" Arms & 10 3/4" Hands is said to have enjoyed a really good week of practices.

5-159) Jalen Camp, WR, Georgia Tech, 6'2" 226 (from Browns)

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7aF8JqM894

Now here's a kid who was on Feldman's Annual Freak List. IMO, the Rams will be making a HUGE mistake if they don't provide Stafford a large WR target capable of going up and making contested catches. Camp (and his 4.43/40) provides the team this with his size, vertical (40 inches), and strength (30 reps of 225) for blocking and making these down field and red zone catches Stafford got from Megatron and Golliday. If he makes it to this spot he'd be a great 5th WR as he's already and accomplished experienced special teams contributor.

6-209) Avery Williams, PR/CB, Boise State

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEsagcLrjtc

Special teams freaking matter!!! And this team has needed a quality return specialist since McVay got here and this kid may be the best in the country with 9 TD (6 on punts, 3 on kickoffs). One of the strongest pound for pound players on his team, Williams can also be the team's 5th CB.

7-252) Ben Mason, FB/TE/H-Back, Michigan 6-2, 246

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeStS-mitDs

Going back to the Senior Bowl again. My hope is that new OLine Coach and running game coordinator Carberry can impress upon McVay to add someone like this to the roster. Great blocker. Another core special teams player. He can catch and can potentially even be a physical short yardage runner which is probably a need now that Malcolm Brown is gone.

I like the OLs you picked (Moore and Green). I also like Avery Williams for his special teams value. Might have potential at slot CB too. Ben Mason is intriguing. Could play both TE and FB. Should contribute on special teams.

I'm not big on Jabril Cox for our scheme. Unless Morris is going to run a completely different defense, I don't see the fit maximizing his skillset. Cox is an outstanding LB when it comes to man coverage. That's his calling card. As a run defender, he's a bit like Littleton, more of a janitor than a disruptor. Problem is that we were a zone-heavy defense under Staley. That would take a lot of Cox's value away.

I like it all if you replaced Cox with a sideline to sideline thumper.

Zaven Collins might work. He is huge but still has good speed. But I think the Rams round two selection falls too late to land one of the top three and outside of Parsons even the top three have their question marks.

For me, Cox isn't replacing Reeder at ILB. He's replacing Kenny Young and John Johnson's reps in the box.

And I do believe that Morris is gong to make some changes.

Great job! I would be more than happy with that draft! I much prefer Werner at ILB but that aside, great. What do the Rams do at Center in 2021 after Creed Humphrey escapes the net?

Loved the Avery Williams & Jalen Camp vids -- Imagine Jalen catching passes that are ON TARGET & in stride.... but ya that kid has a huge catch radius. Avery Williams would take a weakness & make it an instant strength. Nick ? goes from special teams ace to 3rd string safety.
I liked the Cox video, just wish I could see more. Any Center will beat what we have now.

Nice mock.

Very nice draft, I like all the picks, except the Ben Mason one.
Not that I dislike the player, just that if the Rams draft him, I'd have to tell @Riverumbbq that he was right. Lol

If you are replacing Young then even better for me would be LB Jamin Brown from Kentucky. I like him better than Jabril Cox. Brown plays the run better and has great range and hands since he is a former receiver.

UFA pickup Austin Reiter vs. Brian Allen vs. Coleman Shelton vs. the 3rd rounder Kendrick Green.

I went back and forth on the two LBs, but I went with the Senior Bowl connection and the player who I felt probably had the better chance to still be on the board.

Jamin Davis blew up his pro day unfortunately. No way that dude lasts to 57.

I also dislike the big safety type ILBs. We need a stout run stuffer with athletic upside there or go another position.

But that said Cox does have good upside. Not like I'd be upset with him. And enjoyed the read. (y)

Some nice choices here. A few thoughts...

I, as a rule, don't do trades in my mock, but the one you proposed certainly seems very Snead-like.

I like Cox a a prospect quite a bit, but I have my doubts that the Rams would start with a LB (interestingly, though, both Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have the Rams starting with that position in Round 2). If the goal is to replace what JJ brought to the table, I think I'd prefer to go with a safety, such as Jevon Holland (Oregon), Richie Grant (UCF) or Jamar Johnson (Indiana), some of whom could still be around in Round 3.

I agree with targeting CB early, and Adebo is an interesting prospect. Certainly, given your opinion that we need a guy who can hold up on the outside, he fits the mold.

With Green, the question would be position. In college, he was an OG (started one game at C) but, much like Quinn Meinerz, his best value could be as a center. Could he transition quickly enough to be Blythe's immediate replacement?

Good job overall.

Don’t know how that is possible, but would be a Top 2021 draft.

I agree . My thoughts are Chazz Surratt might be that guy.Cox seems to be moving up on draft boards.

I think your right though after listening to Snead talk about the LB position evolving.Kenny Young struggled way to much. Kiser is good against the run,but Reeder might have beat him out.
That Holland’s was lost at OLB/DE.That LBer The Rams have in Rozeboom?? Has that DB/LB type skill set.
