1-19 Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA, 6046, 259

View: https://youtu.be/ujqiBFPpG-Q?si=ss2yXaLFz-gNl77p

Latu may not be the best athlete, but he’s the most skilled pass rusher In this draft class. His selection permanently ends the Hoecht EDGE experience.

2-52 T.J. Tampa, CB, Iowa State 6007, 189

View: https://youtu.be/exU1V-41jZc?si=iaM3uGuKGLCVM3bi

T.J. Tampa gives the team the big physical CB it needs in the division. Capable in zone and press, my guess is the Rams new coach (Scheelhasse) who came from Iowa State had already told the team all about him.

3-83 Austin Booker, EDGE, KANSAS, 6044, 240

View: https://youtu.be/u3q0dRTsfsM?si=91PBtsiXGyaTpLSZ

This kid has too much upside to pass on if available at this selection. He can spell the starters and even allow Latu to shift inside on obvious passing downs from time to time to better the pass rush.

3-98 Justin Eboigbe, DL, Alabama, 6043 297

View: https://youtu.be/BaE2sCUA6dY?si=NEoYQcO5iD96z77c

IMO, too much focus upon finding someone close to Aaron Donald would be a huge mistake. There’s only one. Here the Rams grab a solid DE capable of stuffing the run and pushing the pocket to join the rotation.

5-153 Kristian Boyd, DT, Northern Iowa 6024, 324

View: https://youtu.be/sjbWhH-mTj4?si=ZmQXS7l2f5w7CaXX

Depending upon who you read, this small school product was destroying opposing OLinemen during Hula & Shrine Bowl practices. He may prove to be enough to back up and maybe push Bobby Brown III while Kobie Turner moves to Donald's spot.

5-154 Marist Liufau, LB, Notre Dame 6021, 234 (from Steelers)

View: https://youtu.be/l66lWG_4LKM?si=ZBZBXxHtkG3Qxokf

This kid runs around like his hair is on fire. I love the attitude. He has the length and may have the coverage ability too keep that extra safety off the filed during obvious passing downs.

TRADE

Rams trade two 6th round selections (#195 & #209) to Saints to move into bottom of the 5th round (#175)

5-175 Audric Estime, RB, 5113, 221 (Acquired from Saints/mock trade)

View: https://youtu.be/Hw61zxHz5g8?si=CHjF3RIx6GKGLDAA

If not for that 4.71/40 at the combine, this kid would probably be gone a round or two earlier. He’s not the homerun back most probably want, but this big bruiser plays faster than that to me and fits the offense like a glove.

6-195 (Traded to Saints in Mock Trade)
6-209 (Traded to Saints in Mock Trade)

6-213 Travis Glover, OT, Georgia State 6060, 338

View: https://youtu.be/aZaXG5IITO0?si=8aAWK1_aOCYW819a

Glover is a 5-year starter with 34 ½” arms. After a strong showing in the Hula Bowl, he was a late call up to the Senior Bowl where he was said to fair pretty well. With an 80.7 PFF pass blocking grade he was said to also hold his own vs. North Carolina and LSU.

6-217 Casey Washington, WR, Illinois 6006, 197

View: https://youtu.be/163joPvQmh8?si=ItLMt9mcNxlpS8nR

Some are calling for the Rams to go WR early, but this is a DEEEP draft class at the position that should have some late round gems. This could be one of them. This kid has good speed, great hops, and was said to be uncoverable during Shrine Bowl practices.

7-254 Quantez Stiggers 5113, 203

View: https://youtu.be/GULy2gwCFIo?si=uzUvc6QXFrmEykeX

No college experience and just 1 year of CFL football. But he was voted the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie, has good speed, and also was said to shine during Shrine Bowl practices.

Love it. Would've preferred one more corner with that third round pick instead of edge but I wouldn't complain overall.

That’s a lot of beef on the dline, which is what we need.

We still need a kicker as well.
I have a hard time believing we won’t draft one.

I was hoping that the found a veteran via free agency or trade, but you're probably right.

Yeah I have to believe they draft a kicker Cam Little out of Arkansas maybe, but I like everything else as no overreaction on the defensive line, but solid additions. Plus I love Estime, but then again I watch quite a bit of Notre Dame football.

Latu & Tampa will make major impacts right from the outset.

I really like the depth on defense.... awesome!
Quantez Stiggers... 7th round? After his performance at his Pro Day last Friday, he may go higher, maybe 5th round. 29 teams were there for his Pro day and he has 10 team visits scheduled.

I'm hopeful that Latu could fall to us due to injury / medical concerns. We took a chance on a DE a few years back who had a med issue... he turned out ok lol. The mighty Quinn, ohh those were the days. NOT saying Latu is anywhere comparable but I REALLY liked his highlights... how injured could he really be & play at that level?
You gotta think SOMEONE is going to fall to us at #19... every year it happens, team 'A' jumps in front of team 'B' & selects the player they wanted, so team 'B' winds up reaching for "need". Following teams already had their #1 picks selected so they don't go for the falling player. Latu could easily be the case here... I doubt Verse or Turner falls to us, we could hope.... but maybe if ONE of them falls below #10, Les works the phones?? Both Verse & Turner are monsters.

I liked the Rams chances better before the Bears got Keenan Allen.

I hope the Rams don't have to trade up, but my fear now is that Turner and Verse go #8 & #9 to the Falcons and Bears, leaving Latu to last 9 selections.

When I read the medical retirement story, it appears only one doctor physically looked at him due to Covid. It sounds like the other doctors (pre-UCLA) were just looking at emails from the first doctor.

I so hope he falls to The Rams.

Anyways - I think you see the writing on the wall. There is such value there for The Rams if Latu falls to The Rams.

WTF - can’t believe The Rams drafted B.Young.Then add adding a All Pro LG,then being able to move Steve Avila to Center who was already a All Pro caliber LG,but also now besides being The Best Center in 2023,he has a year experience before having to play that position learning from Shelton.

Add Kobe Turner & Puka having such Great Rookie Seasons. Then sprinkle in The Rest of the 2023 Draft Class. Can continue to go on ,but this FA Curl said he & Jason Taylor grew up together, whose a FS I’m excited about seeing healthy & in training camp.

Like the Tampa and Booker picks.
Tampa didn't quite make it in my mock and Booker was/is headed for the next one—if I can get to it!

I like it. If the Rams were to take Latu then I’d trust they are comfortable with him medically. The rest looks good.

However, I think Latu ends up going earlier. It just takes one early team to clear him and he will be the first Edge off the board.

If they don’t get Latu then give me Newton and it’s still a good draft.
