Here's the money quote in the article, for me..

“He has helped me see this game and this profession in (such) a totally different lens that the idea of not coaching feels so laughable,” said McVay. “I get so much more joy out of things that I just didn’t give a s— about before.”
I've said since that offseason.. after 22.. since we saw him the next season and how much he had changed.. that I felt like he had crossed through something and came to the realization that he's, at his core, a football coach. I've felt every move the team has done since then has been with the knowledge they were building something knowing he was going to be there for years.. and this confirms it.

For all the shit people give Jourdan... I hope you can see that you don't get this kind of access and vulnerability from a coach if you're a hack.

Just awesome stuff and such a cool story.

Jourdan is a drama hack. My favorite: ‘the rams out-played themselves with Austin Blythe only offering the minimum allowing the Chiefs to swoop in and sign him for a few hundred thousand more!” Ha! Or, after any Rams news has broke hours before: “I can confirm through my sources that…” ha! She is an empty hat, in my opinion, and people like her because she provides a lot of content. But she is no steak, for sure.

I'm not a perfect Rams fan remembering every single player and transaction. However, I thought Blythe was a FA signing to the Carolina Panthers.

Yeah.. this is total nonsense.

You don't like her style.. fine.. Hack? Nope. She puts in the work and that's displayed in a wide body of work both covering the Rams and some of the more ambitious projects she's done for the Athletic.

You may not understand the phrase.. "all sizzle, no steak".. she has plenty of substantive content.. including this article, which I'm POSITIVE you didn't read before making your comment.. which is the very essence of "all sizzle, no steak."

I was trying to mix at least three sayings: all hat, no cattle/ all sizzle, no steak/ all talk, no substance to say a simple thing. Eh, you win some, you lose some.

Guiding the team through the injury riddled, losing record, first quarter of the 2024 season to NFC West champs and to the front door of the Super Bowl was probably his finest coaching achievement. Sounds like his changes had a lot to do with it.

She's probably the best sports journalist working in the English language right now, anywhere on the planet. She's that good. If you can't see that, I can't help you.

I think there are quite a few excellent sports writers... I do think, among the younger generation, she's at the very top.

Smart kid.. and has a super smart twin-sister, turns out.

Was hoping for this article since hearing McVay name drop Petersen in pressers.
Yeah, our new TE coach is a Petersen guy, doesn't mean his resume is immune from scrutiny.
Jourdan isn't a media goddess, more like our very own chonky plushie Rams correspondent.

Well, McVay obviously trusts and respects her.
That is all that really matters.
It was a good article that McVay kinda poured his heart out in.
Maybe it was easier to talk to a trusted woman about his "feelings". At any rate it was one of the best insights to McVays mind I have ever read. Props to her.
Seems McVay is not going anywhere and that is the best Rams news I have heard in awhile.

Jourdan's the best beat writer we've ever had. Does anyone think Bernie the Hutt would ever come up with an article like this?

We could do - and have done - so much worse than her.

She gets people to trust her because she's present, not a hot take merchant, and seems to genuinely love football.

Yeah, I think I agree with this but for the like year we had Vinny Bosignore, he seemed really lose with with what the coaches and players were saying and doing behind the scenes in a way that Jourdan plays more close to the vest. That was fun.

Jourdan is great....but I also follow our division rivals on the athletic and their beat writers put out more articles.....it feels like three times more.....it seems like Jourdan goes for big, unexpected stories which are cool. But I want more

idk.. They aren't allowed to report on so much of what goes on at otas at such.. and the Rams cover it... I think it's simply a matter of going after stuff no one else does.. and stuff that really brings insight into what the team is all about.

Jourdan's positives far outweigh her negatives. She is obviously one of the better beat reporters out there. Definitely has come a long way from the girl heckled by Cam Newton.

I think her best is ahead of her, when she learns to have a little skepticism with team spin on shit.
