Mayock sees the 18 int and keeps asking the same question I keep asking..why? Neither of us like the answer.....he didn't move Mariota up he moved Winston down

This is from Hub Arkush who used to run Pro Football Weekly before it folded.
Thanks.

Pro Football Weekly used to be the like the Bible of football for me. I'd run out and try to find the draft edition every year. Sometimes spent half the day, up to a couple weekends looking for it. That was almost 30 years ago.

He isn't afraid to switch up his board is he?

I remember Quinn jumping from 5 to 1 all of a sudden a few years back.

No. He talks to teams, and scouts, and then adjusts his ratings after all the Pro Days are over. He wants to be right, it's not as much about who HE thinks is the best, at that point. He also waits until the day before the draft to release his Mock Draft.

I think that is true of many of the talking heads. It doesn't seem realistic that one person can really study and evaluate hundreds of players. I have tried - I waste a lot of free time on the draft - and while I develop favorites and have my opinions - right or wrong - I know my limitations.

That's exactly it. Which is why he used to tip picks on draft day. He'd wait until they knew the pick and then throw out the name right before the pick was announced as if it was his "belief".

I've pretty much lost all respect for Mayock.

I'm going to give Mayock some credit because prior to the Networks agreeing not to tip selections he did seem to call some prior to teams even being on the clock. A few the night before the draft.

Mayock seems to know as much as the rest of them about prospects. I don't know if he oes his own work or talks to scouts for insight, but he , McShay, and Kiper are almost the same person.

Wow! what's with the Safety rankings ? He's added 2 players that have been listed as CB's everywhere else (Carter & Rollins) and he lists Shaq Thompson, an OLB.

No way am I'm taking Humphries over Peat or Clemmings.

Humpries scares the..you know what...out of me. I'm pretty sure he was playing this season at around 285 pounds. So while he measured in at 307 pounds during workouts, you have to wonder if he'll have a tough time keeping the weight on. Jacob Bell anyone?

Others that I disagree with...

1. Mariota ahead of Winston
2. Ameer Abdullah as the 3rd RB. When I watched wasn't really that impressed.
3. Danny Shelton ranked below Armstead and Brown.
4. Trae Waynes ranked ahead of Marcus Peters.
5. Petty ranked ahead of Grayson and Hundley.

Didn't Marino throw like 23 his last season at Pitt?

http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/pittsburgh/1982.html

Just sayin....

and Ryan threw19 his senior year...not the total but how and when that is troubling
Mannion had almost the exact number of attempts and Mannion threw 18 int while being sacked 35? times and Winston threw 18 while being sacked 19. Mannion was willing to take a sack rather then throw an int and cost his team a win while Winston was often throwing the ball up for grabs in the 1st half of games...like he didn't care

curious what would of Winstons stats been playing on that awful Oregon St team and vice versa for Mannion...How many int would have Winston thrown? 30? Does anyone see the maturity from Winston that says he can handle playing on a losing team? I don't.

Ryan played on an awful team at Boston college and usually was throwing into nearly closed windows...Marino was the 6th qb selected in 1983 draft 2 picks from the 2nd rd...career 79 td 69 int We are talking about where to slot Winston. 25 td 18 int playing on an all star team with 5 draftable olinemen...Mayock has commented those int bother him. Me too. When you add in the extremely long list of off the field stuff you don't see a #1 overall pick..caveat emptor

I really liked Matt Ryan coming out. Lets get that out there...I like a QB that's willing to take chances in college...It basically is the minor leagues of pro football. The more interesting stat is his second half int's...When the game is really in the balance. I feel while Jameis 2014 team was pretty talented, his wr crew wasn't. He especially missed his big, go to target. Guys like Marino & Ryan have such belief in themselves, such confidence feel freer or less hindered by a possible mistake like a pick...I don't feel he'll bring this trait to the pros with him. And yes, in this age of the QB, no way you let a talent like Winston, Ryan, or of course Marino slip past you because of some interceptions...Interesting comparison of Mannion...I was really expecting big things from him...Hogan of Stanford as well...He arguably had the best wr talent for 3 years while at Oregon, and while I wouldn't mind taking him in the 4th round, maybe the 3rd, I just don't see the arm talent of a Winston...I don't see the arm talent of a Hundley. Taking care of the football is important, but so is the ability to take risks & throw the ball in tight windows...Pull the trigger I'd like to say...that's the only way to get better...

Winston is no Marino.
ahh, we have a young Nostradamus in the mist...Who else do you predict to be less than a HOF'er at this point? Beasley is no LT, Fowler is no Derrick Thomas? How about Flowers is no Orlando Pace? LOL just pulling your chain bro....you never know...

Lol I laughed At your post! Haha
No offense taken... I mean more or less as a prospect coming out of college Marino was a legit dude, full shire shot at a franchise QB. Winston on the other hand is just the better of a weak QB class in reality.
Personally I'm not sure about rooting for or against him TBH.
I wish we had the talent of last years class to choose from as far as second tier QB's go! Grayson has come out of nowhere for me to be my favorite tier 2 QB. You have anyone?
