A Chicago man who was about to be evicted pointed an AK-47 rifle at his landlord earlier this week, officials said.

Follow @NBCNewsUSBond was set at $50,000 for Frank Johnson, 54, who was arrested at his home on the 2000 block of East 72nd Street.

The landlord went to the home to discuss the eviction and later told police Johnson pointed the weapon at him.

Officers went to the home and asked Johnson if he had a handgun, police said. Johnson reportedly told officers he didn't have a handgun but did have a rifle. That rifle turned out to be the AK-47.

Johnson was also found to be in possession of extended magazines loaded with 400 rounds of ammunition for the rifle and 36 rounds for a .357 handgun, police said. No handgun was found at the residence.

Johnson was charged with one count each of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and possession of ammunition without an FOID card.

The sheriff's office said Johnson is due back in court on Jan. 15.

Sheesh. Someone needs to tell that freak show that the Myans were wrong. He doesn't need to stockpile for the end of the world anymore. And maybe seek out an anger management class or sumpin'.

Seriously, those prepper shows is getting a bunch of people prepared. Being ready for a disaster that'll knock power out for a week or so (storm, earthquake, etc) is smart. All this preparing for the end of the world stuff, it's a little much.

I'm sorry, but 400 rounds of ammo isn't that much, especially for an AK47. If you are going to own one, I would think you are going to take it to the range and practice shooting it to be competent with your weapon. That's not stockpiling. And why in the hell would you need a FOID card?
