Malik McDowell expected to be released by Seahawks

Seahawks fans can only wonder what could have been with Malik McDowell.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Seattle is expected to release last year's second-round defensive tackle in the near future, according to a source.

The Seahawks have yet to medically clear McDowell, who was involved in a "serious" ATV accident last July that forced him to spend his entire rookie season on the team's non-football injury list.

McDowell's physical situation has been something of a mystery ever since. The former Michigan State star suffered a concussion and facial injuries in the accident, leaving Seattle's decision-makers entirely unsure of his status for 2018.

"Nothing new," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said of McDowell, per The Seattle Times. "Same kind of thing. He's got a process he is going through, we get information rarely in his case, but there will be a time when you will hear more."

That time is now, with Seattle preparing to move on from the 35th overall pick in last year's draft.

McDowell was brought into the league as a space-eating, 299-pound interior force. The primary question today is whether or not he'll be healthy enough to catch on with another team.

That special bus the 12tards drive seems to be driving in circles and losing a wheel or two.

.

there's only one way from here.

remember when the martz drafts sent the rams heading towards the basement? then linehan came in and pulled off maybe the worst 2 drafts in the history of drafting. nestled the rams in the basement good and proper. and because they were so bad they had to overpay for stiffs in free agency which kept them entrenched in the basement even longer. it was a long way back to the top of the division.

let's hope this is where the seagulls are headed.

Seahawks are having an off-season 180° the opposite of the Rams. More icing on the cake for us Rams fans to cheer about!

Honestly, if we don't go 6-0 in the division, I'll be less than happy.

I suppose something crazy could happen (not gonna put anything out there), but all things considered, I expect the Rams to be fully capable of winning all 16 of the games they play, but especially the division games.

I won't call the Vikes and Eagles at home a big advantage because if the field isn't up to snuff, the field can cost us the game as much as any opponent.

I couldn't be happier that Seattle has drafted so poorly. Schneider was thought to be a genius. The reality was Pete came out of college and knew who played well against him, and had good Intel through the coaching friends network. We saw the same thing with Jimmy Johnson coming from the canes. He didn't draft so great with the Phins. Coaching pals move on and being away from college and so busy as an NFL coach puts the scouting directly onto the GM's shoulders. Schneider has been a failure.

One telling tale that Pete and Schneider were Bush league was when Peyton Manning was a free agent and the Seahawks needed a QB. Manning turned down an invitation to work out for Seattle. He did work out for a few other teams though. In one of those visits Pete and Schneider secretly went to one of the cities where Peyton was visiting and drove up to him in a car and ambushed him. I guess they figured that if they could just talk to him one on one, old Pete could work his motivational magic. LOL. Peyton turned them down on the spot. Chumps.
