Shire Gate Farm started out as a place to live cohesively with a pair of beloved Shire named Rocky and Simon affectionately referred to as “Big Boys”. We purchased the father and son team and shortly realized our residence did not have suitable land space to properly house them at home. Not being completely satisfied with boarding them, it led us on a search for land to provide them with a natural habitat to roam freely.
The land we acquired was large enough for additional livestock, so we decided it may be a good idea to add cattle and raise our own beef. After much research we concluded we would choose a heritage breed, American British White Park Cattle. Our intent was to purchase (2) two bred cows and walked away with (11) eleven bred cows and a bull. Harvesting our first steer was an epicurean discovery. It was then we decided, having free range, organic practiced, high quality beef should not be a kept a secret and should be shared with others.
At Shire Gate Farm we are constantly looking at ways to make things better for our livestock and the environment. Our goal is to produce an experience for our consumers that would equal the experience our family enjoyed at the first harvest.
