Another veteran linebacker will be on the market, but not until after March 9.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Lions have informed Stephen Tulloch that he’ll be released after the start of the new league year. Once that happens, he’ll become a free agent.

Tulloch has a base salary of $5.5 million and a $500,000 roster bonus due in 2016, the last year of his deal. He’ll count $1.3 million against the salary cap in 2016; the Lions apparently don’t have the cap space available to absorb that dead money before the new league year begins.

The 31-year-old Tulloch spent five years with the Titans before spending five with the Lions. He started all 16 games in 2015 after missing 13 a year earlier due to a sack-celebration ACL tear.

At that age is he really an upgrade over Laurinitis?

I recall a few drafts ago many Rams fans really liking Mason Foster. Did he ever pan out? I saw him on the free agency list for Washington.
