The Rams got a pair of players back in the fold on Tuesday.
The St. Louis Rams will have a pair of familiar faces back in the fold this week. Tight end Lance Kendricks and defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo pass physicals and were activated from the PUP list on Tuesday.
Cudjo had been dealing with a foot injury. Kendricks was recovering from a knee scope operation during the offseason. Both veterans return in plenty of time to get quality work with the team and the chance to play in three preseason games. There's still the question of whether either one will be active for this Saturday's game against the Packers.
Kendricks, as a starter last season, caught 42 passes for 519 yards and four touchdowns. He also proved to be a key part of the Rams blocking schemes, often doubling up with weak links at tackle like Barry Richardson or the string of replacements filling in for injured starters.
This year's version of the offense should still feature plenty of Kendricks. New addition Jared Cook will take over as the primary receiving threat at the position, thanks to his ability to stretch the field, but he's not much of an in-line blocker.
Cudjo played his way into the third defensive tackle spot last year, and gave the middle of the Rams defense another solid run stopper. He has more competition this year for one of final defensive linemen spots on the 53-man roster.
