Extended

Welp, not a terrible contract honestly. I was and still am in the mindset of not extending RB's unless they are Barkley however.

A little more than I thought it would be but I think he has earned a second contract. Good to have you locked down Kyren. Now hold onto the fucking ball!

BTW - I merged the two threads on this. It was virtually a dead heat so I let the site programming decide which was first.

To me, the best route we could have taken was to let this season play out. If Kyren was a beast and improved upon his fumbling, extend. If not, hopefully we get a good look at the 2 talents behind him and determine if they can carry the torch and save us a bunch of cap we will need shortly.

Williams is a stud. If he can get his occasional fumbling issues under control he'll be well worth that contract.

I'm just glad it's one less hole we have to fill in the near future.

Here's the thing, if he has a monster season then you're going to paying more than what the rams just paid. He's a top 10 RB in the NFL I'd even say top 6. He's a TD machine.

Kyren did everything the right way. He spent the offseason working on his hand and arm strength due to fumble issues. He came to camp, never bad mouthed anyone, has been a mentor and cheerleader of the other RBs in his time here. Will be one of the first to congratulate another RB when they have a big play. The guy is a consummate professional and teammate. This deal is good because he got paid and commits us to him for at least a couple of years so he doesn't have to look over his shoulder if the Rams decide to use the other two RBs some.

There are many layers as to my opinion on this.

Simplified…
I like that the Rams reward player production and players who buy into the culture. I like continuity of the roster. I don’t like paying out for RB’s who aren’t elite. I don’t like committee RB rooms where one guy is the bread winner and therefore, the clear #1

Congrats to KW.

I like him. But that’s too much money and too much guaranteed. I’d rather someone else pay that and we instead move onto the younger guys after this year. Sometimes we waste cap space unnecessarily (this, tutu, etc). Wish we were more frugal and smart with the cap and future contract outlays.

Stats among all backs show he doesn’t have a fumbling issue. Still glad he’s working on it, though.

I agree with this. People have differing subjective opinions on whether he's a top 5 RB, but when looking at the objective production data, he's a top 5 guy.

$11 million is a team-friendly deal; he would earn more on the open market. That said, I have mixed feelings on giving RBs 2nd contracts unless you're a Saquon type.

Love this, i know RBs are not worth what they used to be, but KW is a Ram, he brings energy and thump to this offense. His worth is not only measured in yards and TDs but intangibles as well. I am all for signing players who love the organization and will do anything for his teammates and just wants to win ball games.
