Kurt Warner, Orlando Pace among former Rams up for Hall of Fame

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The Pro Football Hall of Fame unveiled its list of the 108 modern-era nominees for induction in 2016 on Wednesday night.
It's a list that once again includes a variety of former St. Louis Rams, some of whom nearly earned election in the most recent class. That group includes offensive tackle Orlando Pace, quarterback Kurt Warner and pass-rusher Kevin Greene. That trio all came up just short of landing in Canton this past year after making the list of finalists and figures to be on the short list of the top candidates this year.
Other Rams who figure to be in the conversation are receivers Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce.
But selection is never guaranteed and it figures to be tough considering some of the new additions to the group this year. Quarterback Brett Favre headlines the list and is probably a lock to make it. That could make it tough on Warner, as the selection committee has had an aversion to doubling down on the same position in the same year recently.
Receiver Terrell Owens adds to a logjam at wideout that also includes Marvin Harrison, which could make it hard on Bruce and Holt to advance further than they did a year ago.
Pace and Greene seem like the best bets among former Rams after narrow misses in the 2015 class. Pace will get stiff competition from newcomer Alan Faneca but Greene seems to be the best option among the returning pass-rushers after Charles Haley went in this year.
The group will be narrowed to 25 semifinalists in November and 15 finalists in January. The 2016 Hall of Fame class will be chosen Feb. 6, the night before the Super Bowl.
