Seahawks promote Kris Richard to defensive coordinator

AP
The Seahawks stopped the bleeding of defensive coaching talent, and promoted the next guy who will likely become a hot candidate thanks to the pile of player talent they have.
As expected, the Seahawks announced that defensive backs coach Kris Richard had been made defensive coordinator.
The team had lost two coordinators to head coaching jobs the last three years, with Gus Bradley going to Jacksonville in 2013 and Dan Quinn to Atlanta this offseason. Coupled with linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. going to become defensive coordinator in Oakland, the Seahawks were struggling with the inevitable exodus that comes with success.
Keeping Richard allows some degree of continuity, as he’s worked with a secondary that’s perhaps the league’s best.
The Seahawks also announced that former NFL linebacker Micheal Barrow was their new linebackers coach, and he’ll be assisted by former Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu.
Barrow, the former Oilers, Panthers and Giants linebacker, had been the linebackers coach at the University of Miami the last eight seasons.
Tatupu played six seasons with the Seahawks, and a recent comeback attempt with the Falcons was cut short by injury.
