I know a full comparison is impossible since Julio is still playing but I'd like to know what y'all think. Both are all-time greats and future hall of famers. So who's better?

Measurables:

Julio Jones:

6'3" 220 pounds
40 time: 4.39 seconds
Bench press: 17 reps
Vertical: 38.5 inches
Broad jump: 135 inches
20 yard shuttle: 4.25 seconds
60 yard shuttle: 11.07 seconds

Calvin Johnson:

6'5" 237 pounds
40 time: 4.35 seconds
Bench press: N/A
Vertical: N/A
Broad jump: N/A
20 yard shuttle: N/A
60 yard shuttle: N/A

Production (first 6 NFL seasons):

Julio:

79 games, 777 targets, 497 receptions, 7610 yards, 15.3 YPR, 40 Touchdowns, 96.3 yards per game.

Megatron:

92 games, 879 targets, 488 receptions, 7836 yards, 16.06 YPR, 54 Touchdowns, 85.17 yards per game.

It's worth noting that Julio missed 11 games in 2013, a year where he was AVERAGING 116 yards per game. He has finished with over 100 YPG in 4 of his 6 seasons. Johnson only managed this feat twice in his first 6 seasons and three times in his career.

So who do y'all think is the better receiver?

If I had to choose one to build a team around I would go with Johnson his height his speed his jumping ability he was a thicker Randy Moss who could also go over the middle.

Close...but if Julio didn't get injured so much...I'd take him...But Megatron was a man among boys. Bet he could come back next year and become top 10 again.

I was gonna say that he hasn't earned that yet, but then I look at the numbers and boy aren't those some similar stats. I still think Megatron had more of an awe factor being 6'5" and all, but the comparison is well earned. All Julio needs to beat out Megatron is a longer career. Johnson's was a little short.

Here's how I see it right now: Healthy, I take Julio. But he's been a bit injury-prone and has played through several injuries. It makes what he's done more impressive, but it's still not good. Megatron was more durable, his body just started giving out at the end of his career. Both might end up being top 5 all time.

If you could build a wr any way you'd like, I think youd end up with Megatron. hes got it all, height, speed, jumping, hands, route running, blocking, not a diva. To me hes the most complete wr there is, followed closely by Moss. Julio is good in his own right, but im not sure hes better than Megatron in an aspect except maybe speed.

Julio has always had Matt Ryan.

Megatron did it with scrubs before Stafford put it together.

I'd take Megatron.

I'd really take either, or both. Give me both.

I would take Julio. I have seen Calvin shut down by corners. Julio is way quicker so can always find a way open. They may run the same 40 but Calvin takes more time to get to full speed.

I'd take Megatron. In his prime, if you didn't double him, he was going to give you fits.

Megatron. He was probably the third best receiver I've seen (Bruce and Holt being the other two). It's a shame he retired so early.

Calvin Johnson, because he had to play every day with the burden of knowing that he was beaten out by Sean McVay for Georgia's Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year.

Julio is great. And I certainly was pining for him that year (though in all fairness, I was hoping the Julio Jype would win out and we would somehow have A.J. Green fall to us). But I cant think of anyone else who has been in the league where you could just throw the football up, and he was more likely to bring it down than not. Julio may even be more polished, and a more "gifted" athlete. But the combination of god-given size and speed, and work ethic just puts Calvin Johnson over the top in my book.

Julio also had a true #1 with him for the beginning of his career. Not to take anything away from him - because I don't know if Roddy White was ever a mentor - but there is something to be said about having someone else there that you can learn from or at least watch. I think we can all safely say that without the Reverend, Holt wouldn't have been the same receiver - no matter which one you think was better.

Megatron with Julio as my #2. What? You didn't say I had to choose them on a different team either or! Lol

That would be a beast pairing! Imagine? Kind of like a Kenny Britt and Quick pairing... :rimshot:

It has to be Megatron. There will never be another player that has all the perfect attributes for a WR. His highlights early in his career were incredible. There wasn't any combination of DBs that could stop him on those deep jump balls.

Julio is the same way though. Doesn't talk trash or rant on social media. Just goes out and dominates. Physically, I think Julio is more athletic than Calvin. Megatron is just a bit bigger.
