After more than 4 hours at Rams Park on Sunday, Jeff Fisher headed out the door a little after 4 p.m., riding shotgun in a black SUV driven by Kevin Demoff, the Rams' executive vice president of the football operations.
Fisher took a tour of the facilities and met with quarterback Sam Bradford, as speculation swirled all around about whether his next destination will be St. Louis. According to a variety of sources, Fisher likes a lot of what he sees in the Rams. And as Fisher weighs a variety of factors, there seem to be more plusses than minuses with the Rams, particularly as compared to Miami.
The only possible hangup, according to two sources, is the potential of a possible move by the franchise to Los Angeles. The move from Houston to Tennessee was grueling for Fisher during his 17 seasons with that franchise. It's something Fisher doesn't want to go through again. Even with those concerns, it's not known if that's a deal breaker with St. Louis.
Staffing, and having sufficient money to hire who he wants, is a big issue for Fisher, but apparently in his talks with the Rams that issue has been addressed satisfactorily. Fisher is planning to put together a heavyweight staff with New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and Tennessee Titans senior assistant Dave McGinnis as two distinct possibilities. Both have plenty of experience, and have been head coaches before in the NFL _ McGinnis with Arizona and Williams with Washington.
Unless he has a sudden urge to get this over with, Fisher is expected to decide where he's going by Tuesday or Wednesday.
