Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joined The U.S. Bank Afternoon Drive on Tuesday to talk several Rams topics, including the team’s decision to bench quarterback Nick Foles for Case Keenum against the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday.
Listen to JT Talk Rams
On Case Keenum's prospects as Rams QB:
"I'm not predicting we're going to see a revival of what happened in 1999 or even in 2002. Sometimes a quarterback can come in and play very well. This is a chance for Keenum. The question is has he learned from (his handful of starts for the Texans)? Will he be better from those experiences? He may not get another opportunity in the league. He's got a strong backer in Jeff Fisher and has some mobility which will help with the current state of the offensive line."

Long-time NFL reporter Howard Balzer called into The Hollywood Casino Press Box to discuss several topics surrounding the Rams, including the team’s decision to bench quarterback Nick Foles and the its continued offensive struggles.

On Rams' Jeff Fisher benching Nick Foles for Case Keenum:
"It didn't surprise me. If you look at what he said on Sunday...it wasn't exactly a sterling endorsement of Nick Foles on Sunday. It still took us a little bit by surprise. But when you look at the body of work...I think the biggest thing Fisher said was, 'Nick needs a break.'
"(And it was interesting Wes Welker said he thought Foles was a little too hype up). Sometimes if you're a little gung-ho, it kind of takes you out of being calm and letting things develop. If he'd gone through his progressions a few times, he would've found players wide open he didn't go to."
