Yeah, basically 8yrs. Massive.

Not sure what the NFL needs to do to reel in QB salaries or balance things out somehow?

They really shouldnt include QB contracts in with the salary cap, it's just ludicrous

I agree. I think they should have an NBA type “max” and “Supermax” contracts that are pretty standard and not counted against the team salary cap

Bills better hope Allen doesn’t pull a Goff on them.
If I understand correctly, only about 40% of the contract is non-guaranteed. It sounds as if there are some outs for the Bills to take if Allen ends out Goffing up.

They missed their chance, IMO.

To put any form of cap or percentage of salary cap on the deal would have to go through the NFLPA. Prime time to do it would be when negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement. They're just gonna have to keep paying or start saying no/trade. The QB's have all the leverage as it stands.

I believe it was Andy Reid who said the price of a QB is irrelevant. If you don't have one you're not gonna win anyway. Thus, the sky is the limit on contracts.

The option I have seen that made sense to me is having 2 separate caps
One for QB's and one for the rest of the team.
If so I think there should be a reasonable cap structure for QB's similar to rookies.
other wise it's going to get to the point where small market teams won't be able to
compete with the elite QB pay scale. ??? just spit balling.

And just like that the bills begin their hike back to mediocrity.

Your talking a QB that has one good year, followed by an abysmal playoff loss.
A QB that runs around the goaline more than any other QB.
They had no choice but he has to evolve his game very quickly.

Even if I were an all-world MFer I don't think I'd want to make that much bank. I'd definitely be thinking a cool $25M per year and the team guarantees it for x years since I'm giving them a discount.

Probably have a better experience like that too as the QB lol.

Dude. He's made exponential improvements from yr 1 to 3. He had an historic season with no run game. He was (is) the run game there.

Good for him. Well deserved.

Well deserved

That's a risky bet. Look at Goff and Wentz. I'd have wanted to see another strong year.
