When he was a rookie I really had high hopes for him. But he remained buried on the roster because of his lack of technique. The Texan game IMO was his coming out debut. Could he be that DE replacing Lewis? IMO he can. He's faster and he's showed how much he's developed beyond simply relying upon his bullrush. That spin move he used against the Texans was a thing of beauty. No way he gets released.

It's not Lewis that is standing in Jonah's way, but Hoescht & Copeland. With Bobby Brown missing the first 6 games due to his suspension, getting to the 53 might be easier depending on how many defensive linemen the Rams are willing to keep. jmo.

Hoecht looked to me like a JAG last year, so I'd hope Williams could beat him out.

Rams got lucky--The Vikings claimed Jonah Williams off waivers from the Rams --Williams failed his physical, Rams resigned Jonah to the practice squad.

He did look like a jag, although after Bobby Brown, he's the only guy left on the roster in that similar weight class except for maybe Elijah Garcia. jmo.

I like Hoecht and Williams; and hope the Rams keep six DL, with Copeland and the starters. However, while Hoecht is going to turn 25 in October and Copeland turned 25 a few months ago, Williams just turned 27.

When Bobby Brown (who just turned 22) comes back after his six game suspension, they can figure things out. An injury or performance, could make that an easy decision.

As to Jonah Williams replacing Terrell Lewis, that makes no sense to me. Lewis is an Edge-player ... Williams is a D-Lineman; and this past weekend it was Williams that was getting Brown's snaps inside on the D-Line. Jonah Williams is just not an Edge in my opinion.

Most of all of Jonah Williams's 40 snaps had him playing the NT Greg Gaines post:sur::wow2:.

Copeland did not see the field, not sure what that means but looks good for him. No other DL'er stood out. I did like the play of UDFA rookie Elijah Garcia.

Yeah, Williams spoke about playing the 1-Technique and how different it was from his normal DL position. That interview is on the Rams' site. He's just not an Edge.

Copeland has not dressed for either of the pre-season games. I'm assuming he has a roster spot secured. Makes sense, as he was the top-reserve at the end of the Regular Season and in the Playoffs. That means Hoecht, Williams and Earnest Brown are competing for (at most) two roster spots.

I think all 3 make the 53 Hoecht, Copeland and Williams
Copeland behind A'Shawn
Williams behind Gaines
Hoecht behind AD or as depth

What about Thomas from fsu? The Bruss injury imo only helps The Rams
secure players. D. Hardy as well.

Just to add my view of scared. Hollins has Hardy staying in on this one on one where you go around a player & push off using the O’Linemans body to get further away from him. Sort of like kicking off the side of the pool.
- Just to add Justin’s shoulder(peck) might not be 100%.Meaning something can happen just that fast. You see a player holding it & knowing that didn’t feel good.
Nothing a little ice can’t handle.
Then again Top rookies getting hurt.
Easy to put away, develop & store until you need them.
Talking about Johna Williams being a Ram again, not passing a physical.
—I guess Ram players play hurt a lot.Examples being Roger Saffold & M. Brockers signing be deals & becoming Rams again.

Some tough decisions to make.Yeah Copeland kept being a bit of a Richard. Big Havenstien just pushes him late after the whistle & was like let’s go. Camp was heating up so tempers were short.

As Demoff states. Copeland is on the varsity as a rotation guy.

Thomas & Hardy are both Edge or OLB. I wasn't speaking to the status of that position
As far as the Edge/OLB position goes I have
Hollins, Lewis, Garett, Floyd and Hardy is on the cusp with a good chance to be on the 53. Thomas to P.S

The Rams do seem to have a lot of good luck with players failing physicals with other teams.

With Hardy out for an extended bit of time injured I think Whitney or Thomas make the 53....or the Rams may go with just four at OLB.

Hardy’s ankle injury will require some type of procedure per McVay who also said it was probably not season ending but could see a trip on IR with a return designation

Final 53 will be a little easier, with Hardy (probably on short term IR), Bobby Brown (suspension) and Bruss (season ending IR) not counting.

It's my belief DC Morris will award four currently not playing ER's Floyd/Hollins/Lewis/Garrett the MR53 no others will be considered. IR'd ER Dan Hardy will be a later decision.

ER Benton Whitley will earn a PS position.

Coach Henderson has 3 run-stuffing NT/DT's signed now Robinson/ Gaines/ Bobby Brown. Copeland is Henderson's 4th DT-run stuffer that offers very little as a pass-rushing DL'er.

Yes, Copeland has secured an MR53 at this time. He played well in cameo opportunities in relief. If Bobby Brown had been healthy in the 2021 season Copeland would have not seen the field. If Brown had not been suspended Copeland would be playing in the preseason.

Tell me outside of DT Aaron Donald who brings the constant pass rush in the DL? :bueller:

My prediction the opening regular season MR53 will contain the following 5 DL'ers....Donald/ Robinson/ Gaines/ Williams/ Copeland.

Jonah Williams went to Weber State. I live about 10 minutes away and graduated from there.

He and Hoecht have a really cool and close relationship.

Bonifay’d I don’t think you get what is going to happen this season. You can question it all you want.

What I know is Gaines & A. Robinson look GREAT. They will get after it, but they will stop the run first.
AD99 looks AMAZING so you can’t even realize that when Isaw him in camp that he looked better than I’ve seen him look.
He was just getting after it & having fun.
I don’t know who will put pressure on up front. I do know Whitley or Thomas make The Rams & will get opportunities. Earnest Brown might make the squad as well.We can make a Rob wager on 1 of those 3 make the 53 plus Williams.
The guy who was getting to the QB easily though was Bobby Wagner. He was dancing and doing jigs gettting to the QB.

I think Hoecht makes the 53 as well....at least until Brown is ready.
Coaches know and trust him and he is a ST contributor.

I think both Thomas and Whitley have earned PS spots.
Garcia on the DL as well.

As for pass rush outside of Donald their isn't a lot there.
Gaines has certainly progress in that area and can tally some sacks and just as importantly, generate some consistent pressure.
