Thanks X...Wow that was a great interview and Jim Ryan seems to be the calm and the twins are the storm. Being honest here the best defensive coordinator the St. Louis Rams have had was Lovie Smith. Now Bud Carson did a solid job, but he was not with the Rams very long and once John Bunting was removed from the combination of Peter Giunta & John Bunting Giunta was fired Lovie came on to save the day.

Here is a list of DC's for the Rams since they've been in St. Louis.

95-96...Willie Shaw father of current Stanford Head Coach David Shaw.

1997...Bud Carson, Bud smoked too much and had to step down for health related reasons.

98-99...Co-Defensive Coordinators Peter Giunta & John Bunting...Vermeil named Giunta because he knew Carson's system and Bunting becasue Bunting related to the players better.

2000...Martz makes his first gaffe and informs John Bunting his services are no longer required because he does not embrace Vermeil's philosophy of co-defensive coordinators and decides on Giunta leading the defense...Martz should've went with Bunting, but wanted to bring in Mike Haluchak to coach the linebackers.

2001-2003...Love Smith the best defensive coordinator the St. Louis Rams had, but was only hired because the Arizona Cardinals would not grant permission for the Rams to speak to Larry Marmie...Martz wanted him early on.

2004-2005...Larry "Clueless" Marmie Mike Martz and Jay Zygmunt have a falling out because Zygmunt wanted Dick Jauron and Zygmunt in this case was right!

2006-2008...Jim Haslett who ran a 3-4 with the Steelers a 4-3 with the Saints and a 4-3 with the Rams one of the reasons that the Rams hired Scott Linehan was because Linehan stated he would hire a high profile defensive coordinator and that defensive coordinator tried to do was get Linehan fired so he could have the job.

2008-2010...Ken Flajole attached at the hip to Steve Spagnuolo for better or worse and after the last two experiences Flajole would be better off going back out on his own.

2011...Gregg Williams is suspended and his son Blake Williams takes over as "De-Facto" defensive coordinator and is not retained and his father Gregg is not brought back.

Yep. That was the best part of the interview. :cheese:

That, and when Jim talked about the misnomer of pigeon-holing Rob as *only* a 3-4 coach. He said good coaches tailor their defense to their personnel's strengths. Will we see some 3-4? Probably. But it's going to be a 4-3.
