Jared Verse named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September

Rams outside linebacker Jared Verse's knack for pressuring quarterbacks has garnered league-wide recognition.

Verse on Thursday was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September, as announced by the league.

According to TruMedia, Verse is tied for 5th in tackles for loss (5) and tied for ninth in QB hurries (12) through the first four weeks of the season. Additionally, he has the sixth-highest pressure rate (defined as total number of pressures divided by total pass rush snaps) in the league at 18%, per the NFL's Next Gen Stats.

Overall, he has 19 total tackles (5 for loss) and 1 sack through his first four games. His tackles are fifth-most among all Rams defensive players, while his 4 QB hits lead the team.

Verse is the sixth Rams rookie to receive Rookie of the Month honors and just the second defensive player to earn the honors, joining Kobie Turner (Dec. 2023).

Whatever other bullshit this season gives us it sure is nice to have a bad ass young edge. Now get that boy a real number.

He is garnering league wide recognition while he is still screwing up. Both he and Fiske will be buying for DROY honors, just like Agent Zero and The Conductor last season. The Conductor deserved it last year. Let's hope the league doesn't screw our young guys this season.

Now is the time for us to heal up, physically, schematically, and in execution. We opened up 3-6 last season and closed out with a torrid 7-1 ledger that left many afraid to face us. Matthew has outplayed Jared ever single blessed time the Horns went up against the Lions since the Soul Stealer went Hollywood. It has been breakdown's elsewhere, specifically silly penalties and poor execution that has been contributing way too much to our losses. We are currently 1-4 when we could easily be 4-1. With twelve games left, what is it gonna be? I want 12-0, but I am a greedy eternal optimist who is never satisfied with anything less than perfection. More realistically, I want at least ten wins in order to top last year's win total.

So young so plenty of time...

But you have to eventually be a sack guy not just a pressure guy.

otherwise you are a Chris Long rather then a Jared Allen.

Nothing to complain about for myself. For a rookie edge to be felt as much as he is rush to rush is quite rare. Good chance we hit big on this player.

His contain is his biggest issue. But as this group improves on their rush as a unit and contain correctly the sacks will come.
