I think so. In fact I think there are a couple to be learned:
1. OL is more important than receiving weapons. Trading Unger for Graham is a perfect example of this. The Shehawks OL is not nearly as good as it has been the past couple seasons and it is showing with their continued 3 and outs when they're trying and failing to hold leads. Granted, their defense is not as good this season but their current identity crisis starts up front. No way they should be leading the league in sacks with 26 through six games.
2. Know your offensive identity. Watching them rush only 18 times (gotta take away Wilson's rush totals) while they are throwing it 30 times in their recent loss demonstrates this. They don't know who the hell they are. It is almost like they're trying to turn Wilson into Manning now that he's under the big contract, but he's not Manning and never will be. He's a chain mover type QB who can extend drives with resourcefulness behind a strong rushing attack not a guy who's gonna carry your offense and sling it all over the field. Should they have paid him that much? Remains to be seen, however he has shown he can do a great job if they give him the running game complement. Just like Foles it is very valuable to know your QB can win if you give him that support.
IMO this comes back to the Rams, who have similar issues. Who are they really on offense? Are they a power running team? Cigs has done a good job of play design with misdirection and movement but he's gotta get these guys to the point where they can hammer that ball down defense's throats when they know it's coming. He has to eliminate the penetration problems that have plagued them in the running game. Without that, this offense is not going to be able to consistently produce points.
Where things look much better for us than Seattle is talent level on the OL. The Rams really do have some impressive talent up front. They also have impressive starting and depth talent at RB. So the pieces are there, which is one of the reasons it's so frustrating to see them so up and down week to week. And worst of all is that the NFC West is there for the taking. They gotta get it done this year.
