With all the talk about McVay being a genius and so on I get to thinking if the pressure is getting to him and the team. They’ve been so excellent all season but all of a sudden adversity is derailing them. I believe McVay is outsmarting himself and the team is too focused to play ‘perfect’ instead of playing loose and with confidence.

Whatever it is they need to regain their form and start playing like champions.

The O lacks the answers that Goff spoke so highly of last season. Maybe there is a reason why other teams use multiple formations and personnel packages. We are to predictable and it appears Ds have found an answer to what we do.

I don't think he's making bad play calls. I do wonder how the stress effects him on a personal level, though. He is such a "football guy" that it obviously hits him hard.

Teams have adjusted to the deep pass with a lot of zones. McVay has to adjust and call plays that don't take as long to develop. Have Gurley and Everett/Higbee sit in the middle of those zones. He's smart...I'm sure he'll adjust.

Hoping McVay will feature more 12-personnel sets. O-line looks gassed and we need more protection for Goff

Stop throwing 50 times into nickel and dime defenses while giving Gurley single digit runs or barely above that anyway.

This is football.

Strategy matters, and not trying to bend the game to your will is a smart tactic.

Putting your excellent QB at risk is a bad tactic.

This is reminding me of Martz, but in a bit of a condensed fashion.

Honestly the thread title is a dumb question IMO. And the answer is no.

Makes about as much sense as Wade Phillips forgetting what he knows about defensive football. Or deciding that every play that doesn't work is poorly called. Or that our young QB is a bust now that he's not undefeated. And so on and so forth. Not that it will stop the posts or anything.

Stress is a real thing which affect thousands of people everyday. Maybe it’s affecting McVay and the team. Don’t see how dumb that is.

The team isn't executing with consistency. They've gotta find themselves again. Let's win the next two, use the bye to get right, and come out ready to kill people in the playoffs.

This isnt directed at you @Young Ram, but more of a general observation. What I see is poor execution on the field, and hindsight brilliance from fans on their couches. Belichick and Carroll both lost important games yesterday. Are they cracking under pressure, or did they not get the execution they needed from their players to win? Brady played like garbage, and Seattle set a franchise record for penalty yards yesterday.

Coaching? Nah. Goff was off target a lot last night, Gurley was dinged, and the O-line got bullied by 4 guys. Maybe McVay (that's the proper spelling for some of you who don't know it yet) could have run Gurley more, but it's also possible that Gurley wasn't 100%. We could have abused the underneath and middle zones brutally if execution was on point too, but it's clear now that Goff is losing faith in his line. His internal clock is way, way faster than it used to be.

IMO, of course.

Sullivan got dominated by Hicks last week and Cox this week. Giving up pressure right up the gut. Allows teams to only have to rush 4 and play coverage.

They had Cox lined up on his nose and he can't handle that.

3 straight weeks and no adjustments on offense. It's pretty obvious that teams have figured them out . 6 points and then 10 in 3 quarters against a depleted Eagles defense proves it . I have no answers for the defense. Just plain bad

Collinsworth driving me crazy talking about the lack of depth, the Rams had depth at RB, the one position, but when your one is ailing and your two is out, the three and four need to get some more experience. However, the Chargers handled it just fine.

The pressure certainly got to Goff when he gave the ball up deep in his own end with a boneheaded play. Who the F was he trying to get the ball to with someone right in his face? I'm betting McVay has told him repeatedly to eat it a nd live to play another down.

That one gaffe gave the game away.

I think losing Cooper Kupp is having a bigger impact then any of us could have imagined.

This may sound silly, but honestly McVay needs to SLEEP. I know the dude is an obsessive workforce of a Head Coach, but I bet he lets himself be on a different level of tired; which I'm sure a lot of coaches do. Nonetheless, it actually becomes detrimental to himself and the team. All the sudden we're seeing playcalling that is uncharacteristic of him, we're seeing an offense with little creativity.

Does anyone have a gif of--what we can only dub--THE STARE? When Natson lost that fumble, there was fire in his eyes. This is a young head coach who still hasn't seen it all yet. There's still a lot of work to do.

As crazy as this is, I'm still proud of our team being in it till the very end. That's the only positive I really have. If Natson doesn't fumble, I'm willing to bet we, at the very least, tie the game.

Rough game. This is the type of two week span that maybe this team needed. Again, I know this is crazy to say.

But we need this adversity, and we need to overcome it, if we want to have a chance at even winning a playoff game. Time and time again we see Superbowl winning teams have situations like this come up. With two games left, there's still time to get on a roll and get off on the right foot for the playoffs. Frankly, I don't know if we win another game this year. Best case scenario: we win out and at the very least win a playoff game. Worst case: we lose out...including the playoffs. Time will tell. Let's see what this team can do.

I might even sit Gurley next week, let him heal, and force Goff to regain his confidence, and give these young RBs some much needed reps.

Who knows if he is stressed?
No one on this board can crawl inside his head.
Maybe his own expectation for this years team was 10 wins and a wild card. Who knows.
As successful as he has been he is also a realist I'm sure. He knows his streak of never losing two in a row wasn't going to last.
The next two weeks will be interesting.
Next weeks game becomes a must win really to make sure the team stays ahead of Chicago for the two seed.
It's a game of constant adjustment.

Collinsworth is an idiot, and I hate listening to him. I think John Kelly can give us good play if needed. But he's not the guy you run on that pitch play. He's an inside zone guy. The big problem is he doesn't seem ready for pass protection.

I'd say the pressure (mentally and from bad 0-line) is getting to Jared Goff.

I'm not saying McVay has no blame but our QB and o-line have fallen quickly.

That's what I see.
