After winning the Super Bowl, any team is going to enjoy a honeymoon period during which they are essentially "playing with house money." Like most things in sports, though, that period is temporary.

In the Rams case, the honeymoon period ended pretty quickly in the eyes of the national media and opposing fans. As the team faltered due to departures and a massive injury list, the talking heads applied a "what have you done for me lately" approach when speaking of the Rams.

For fans of the team, the honeymoon period certainly lasted longer, but has it expired? Have the Rams spent all their "house money"?

I'm not quite there yet. For me, the glow of the Super Bowl win has not been fully extinguished, and it can still carry me through what may be a tough upcoming season.

Others may feel differently.

Is the honeymoon over for you?

Nope - not me. I’m still basking in the glow of the Feb 2022 SB win….and that glow will continue for many years. That was the last item to check off my sports fan lists

Not at all. And for me it isn't even the SB itself, as much as how they got there.

Throwing pick sixes, and coming from behind in both the Ravens and Vikes games, losing to the fucking Niners, annihilating the Cards, stealing the Buccs soul, coming from behind to crush the Niners hopes....SB was the icing on the cake.

Obviously he had help, but Stafford was 1/2 of every great play in all those games.
Nobody in the media (or very few) would even put him in the top ten of QBs, let alone #1, but for one game there is no one I'd rather have. With the added bonus of a lot of people ragging on him all year for never having won a payoff game.

As a die hard fan, I'll always cherish the 2 Super Bowl wins.

But this team has never "played with house money" in terms of my fandom. Staying with the monetary metaphor, I prefer: "the coin has no memory". If I wake up and the Rams are playing.... I'm in game day mode. I'm going to find a way to watch the game. I'm going to have good eats and I'm going to have good drinks. I'm going to root for a W.

It's easy to look forward or look backward as the season unfolds or new seasons come and go. But does any of that really change the fact that Rams football game day is a pretty fucking sweet day?

This is Tinseltown, man.
The glamor will always be in play.

We still have superstars like AD, Stafford and Kupp.

Personally...hell no.

But SB victories are pushed aside these days the next day doesn't matter the team. It's all about being relevant in March/April and being the Undisputed Offseason Champions!!!!

The Rams were the toast of the NFL during the GSOT years, after years they finally turned it around and it seemed like prosperous times were ahead. Then it seemed to all fall apart in an instant and once again the team was among the worst in the league. So I’m surprised but not shocked by what has happened over the past year, but I try to have some perspective, I’ve been lucky enough to see my team in the SB 5 times with 2 victories, there are plenty of teams who’ve never been.

Most teams are like sand castles. You'll build them up to perfection and it'll stand for a while. Then the fluid waves come as roster/coach turnover and injuries and its gone just like that. Try again.

Only if they go 6-42 for the next 3 years, then the honeymoon is over for me! I'm going to be high as a kite for many many years.
What's amazing, is I believe there are 12 franchises that have never won a SB and the Rams have won TWO! I know there are the Cheats, Cowboys etc..... that have won more than two, but that's still pretty special to have 2 Lombardi trophies. That 20-17 win over the Whiners will always be one of the greatest comeback wins in NFL history and also makes this honeymoon period extra long for me.

I'll let you know when the magnetic 2021 Rams schedule comes off my refrigerator. I use it to bask in the SB win glory every time I eat something.

When/IF(???) this happens, the honeymoon will be over.

House money went out the window the week Stafford went down. Can we still enjoy the recent SB victory? Abso-freakin-lutely!!! There's been just 1 SB Champ since we won it all but just like TGSOT....the smaller it appears in the rear view mirror, the less enjoyable it is.

I promise you I will enjoy the SB win until the Rams win another either this year or next year. Then I will bask in both until #3 Lombardi comes along.

You see, this team is now reloaded for a sustained Super Bowl run. Not just for one year but for multiple years. Snead and McVay are gearing up for a dynasty. At least 4 or 5 more Lombardi Trophies in the next 10 years. Realistically they won't win every year but they will be in contention to win every year.

That will keep the Modelo flowing in my house!

Not for me, and not for a long time. That playoff run was just so fucking epic, the good feelz from that one are not going to be purged from my system lightly. Ass-whupping of a divisional rival to open ... a game winning drive on the road to take down Brady and the defending champs ... beating the be-hated 49ers and absolutely crushing what little souls they have (how can you forget Deebo blubbering like a little girl who lost her Barbie doll at the end of the game?) ... and then the mother of all game-winning drives in the Super Bowl, complete with a 4th down conversion and the epic no-look pass ... IN. OUR. HOUSE!!!!

Yeah, I'd like them to return to form sooner rather than later, and I do think they're on their way. But the shine of 2021 and Super Bowl LVI still hasn't worn off or really even dimmed.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some highlights to go watch on YouTube.

Still only 16 months ago!! Still very fresh!

Really short time but a lot has happened. Very different team from last season. Can't wait to see who can step up and fill the roles previously held by veterans or what changes may be in store to fit the personnel we have now.

Almost nothing more fun than watching a young team grow together into a team opponents fear.

I hadn't watched any Super Bowl 56 highlights in months until last week and all the transcendent moment amped me to the SKY! I still am having trouble figuring out my favorite playoff game, the NFCCG or the Super Bowl.

Last year was no fun, but no matter. We have a bunch of well thought out draft picks and a HC that I wouldn't trade any other for in the NFL. We are going to be better than I thought we'd be before the draft. Plus, we have a winning tradition that doesn't fade away after one off year.

By honeymoon I believe you mean the McSnead era. It’s still alive and kicking and For me it’s all about building a foundation for success in 2024. As long as they find a number of valid starters this year and improve from beginning to end of year - mission accomplished for 2023. I’m not concerned with record but I don’t want them ever giving up and I want to see intensity on both sides of the ball. 2024 is another story but let’s not go there yet.

Making the Super Bowl is hard. Winning it is really hard. The Rams have made five Super Bowls and won two.

Only ten teams have won 3+.

Only five teams have more Super Bowl appearances.

For me the baseline is a winning record and playoff appearances. If we end up being bad this year, that would be spending that house money from my perspective. After that we need to be competitive, but I expect we will be this year anyways
