I'll be happy for 4/25/2019 so we can talk about some new stuff and the Rams will not go RB early.

and my God, I can't wait until the talk elsewhere in Rams-land quits expounding the "greatness" of obscure college players. Most of which we will never remember the names of unless visiting the particular Walmart where they are stocking shelves by the regular season...

True, although most of these young men, even if not NFL quality, are winners. In other words, they reached a pretty high level just to get to where they are.

I know one businessman in the Reno area that recruits the top players, because he knows their work ethic, and what he requires isn’t the high-brow tech skills, but drive, and determination, and the refusal to quit.

Those are good skills. Many of these kids end up doing well in insurance, and some high end sales positions.

As for the Rams picks, I am anxious to see what we do with a fresh LB, DB, and DL.

I am not really being critical of the players pursuing their dreams, it's really about narcissistic amateur talent evaluators who are looking to say "look how brilliant I am," by picking someone that only they were smart enough to find. (Not picking on anyone at ROD)

Are you kidding?

At least we can talk about the draft... short of the end of the CBA when some guys may shake loose in May... it's gonna be quiet as a church on Monday morning around here for about a month.

Gotta remember to finish binging Breaking Bad and Ray Donovan before Mini Camp starts...

Can we stop all the drama surrounding Gurley? The first three picks will go something like; DL, OL, & DB.

The drama or whatever around Gurley is serious. His knee may cause problems this year and without him this offense is different.

I suspect you will be right on the first three selections. Maybe not that order but those positions.

I've worked with and employed a couple of guys in sales positions that played sports in college and what you are saying is true. They were older than college aged so that had the skills you mentioned plus experience and maturity.

My favorite post draft ritual, and even during the draft, is all the people talking about how the Rams blew a pick and they know better and we should have taken player X instead of player Z.

what about player Y?

.

I agree, I hate the way they pushed the draft back. I used to really look forward to it, but now I’m just sick of it and ready for it to be over.

The NFL needs to learn to leave shit alone.

The NFL needs to learn to leave crap alone.

Yeah, I loved the two day draftapalooza. I understand they make a tiny bit more money by NFL standards by having it over 3 days, and it's probably easier on the teams' employees by a little bit - but as a fan, I could set a weekend aside, with a bunch of food and beer stocked up, and just follow the draft at my computer, with tv blaring. It was a fine weekend.

I haven't been delving into the draft as much as I used to. I no longer read all of the scouting reports. I only read certain positions, but don't take notes. I havent watched much of it in the last few years due to camping trips. Getting away broke a the cycle For me. For most of twenty years I didn't miss a pick in the top four rounds. Also, I'm tired of the inevitable arguments that occur over inane nonsense because I prefer a player that another person doesnt. Or I prefer a position that they dont. I still got in one of those this year and I ask myself why.

I used to do a mock a year.. They ended up pretty good. I did much better than former Rams GMs did. (Not that hard) The last one I did I got one comment about my fifth round pick. Jerry asked me why I'd pick a 3/4 linebacker to play on a 4/3 defense. ( Olivier Vernon turned out to be a damn good 4/3 DE). But that was it. The discussions that follow make the mocks fun. But most don't really care to read them or comment. But that made me realize how much time I was spending in the months leading up to the draft, and how many other things I could be doing instead. Who was I doing it for? Why am I following the off-season so closely? It's an excessive amount of time. since then, I've slowly cut it back more each year.

At 11:00 on Saturday I'll be in a theater with my 12 year old watching a three hour movie; Avenger Endgame. The rest of the day I'll be fishing with him. I'll check in later to see who they picked, but I won't be parked on my recliner, wasting the day away. It feels good to be shedding some of this time consuming hobby.

Better get used to it, flv!

Now that McVay is here, our drafts just won’t have that same urgency. No more searching for a franchise QB... no more plugging of gaping holes on the roster... no more blockbuster deals for a top-3 pick.

Sorry to say we’ve got a decade of playoff runs ahead of us... which means less relevance on draft day! Gone are the days of Spagnuolo and Linehan when we could count on being media darlings for the whole month before the draft! (y)

(Not pokin’ fun at ya, flv, just pointing out the irony... excitement in January leads to boredom in April, and vice versa!)

This draft has a lot going on. Could be some great drama. Lots of differing opinions from mockers. The top is kinda set except the QB spots (Cardinals and Giants). Having the Rams pick late makes predicting more difficult for us. This is still very important and exciting draft to me and the Rams. I guess night two could be slow waiting for two picks late in round 3. You never know Trader Les could get a pick in round 2 or earlier in round 3. There has been a notable divide between ROD members for the first pick. O Line or D Line (other D positions) have created interesting discussions. It's the NFL draft and there is nothing like it in all of sports. It could be considered better than watching a week of actual playing believe it or not.

What to make of the report Sweat has a reported heart condition that could effect his draft position?
