One was a trade for a future hall of famer going into his prime

The other trade was basically to dump salary and hopefully get someone healthy

I'm not really sure they're the same trade

Let's hope it is as equal of importance getting Foles as it was getting Faulk, Marshall was the key to the greatest show on turf maybe Nick being a durable QB is our missing key to success.

Faulk was the missing piece, and honesty was more than just a running back, it was like having another QB/coach out there, he understood the game so well. I think Foles will do good thing in horns, but I don't think he's going to have the immediate impact Faulk did.

Sometimes the missing ingredient is all that's missing. Nobody had faulk pegged as elite. 99 losses in a decade...and bam....super bowl. Foles was a phenom. His book isn't finished yet. I'd like to believe it's possible. I'll know for sure in week 1 when I see him in horns.

As long as Foles proves he's a significant upgrade over Hill/Davis, we'll break the .500 winning pct. Miracles like the GSoT only happen once in a lifetime, what I expect in the future is sustainable success.

IMO he's a significant upgrade over any QB the Rams have had since Warner.

Faulking A !!!

I still can't believe Fish and Co were actually slick enough to engineer this trade. Masterful work.

It really could be on the same level as the Faulk trade after all is said and done.

Think of all the other pieces that came together in '99 though...
1) Drafted Holt at #6 that year
2) signed Timmerman from Green Bay as FA
3) got Bruce back from 2 years of hamstring problems
4) some guy named Warner showed up out of the HyVee aisles

Oh, and that Faulk guy was obtained in a trade too.

I would love to see another '99 style miracle season, but Foles-as-Faulk still leaves a lot of other additions needed.

Not a huge fan of Martz... never mind why... but - without him, I'm not sure how guys like Faulk, Warner, Bruce, Holt, etc turn out.

I gotta give that man a lot of credit for making all of it work at a very high level.

I don't see any Martz's on our current coaching staff.

At least instead of giving up draft picks, the Rams actually netted draft picks in this trade. Plus cap space. Lots of cap space.

If anything this trade provides us with a healthy QB who has won in this league has a good arm and can play. At best he can help get this team to the playoffs and provided us cap space the ablity to sign other players such as Nick Fairley. Go Rams!!!

If Cigs can light a fire (CWUTIDIDTHAR?) under this offense the way Martz did upon his arrival, then I think anything is possible. From what I have seen and heard, Foles may actually be better suited in a more conventional west coast, pro style offense, so who knows. Need to protect him though...and definitely need more contributions from our WRs!!
