Too much consumption by the wealthy overloading the ecosystem, inequality ,etc.

Problem though ,do rich people produce the goods they buy in the process of "overconsumption" ?or does their consumption create jobs?

I was raised up on the space coast in Brevard County Florida and I was taught that NASA was a United States Agency responsible for the nation's civilian space program for aeronautics & aerospace research? My Dad worked for Lockheed there @ the Cape for decades. When did NASA shift its reason for being? or do they now do prophecy on society demise ?

They were re purposed by the current administration to push the AGW agenda and I suppose other issues of social ancillary connection , but yeah I think we're on the same page, mission creep has surely hit the space administration.

BTW did you see any episodes of "Genie" being shot, I had a Barbara Eden jones.

It was civilian rather than military so the focus was more on exploration and knowledge rather than weapons and defense.

That being said, this wasn't a NASA study, and they do not agree with the conclusion. The study was done by a totally different group who used a NASA sponsored HANDY (Human And Nature DYnamics) model, which offers up different earth models and drew their own conclusions. NASA has nothing to do with this.

Besides the conclusion is nothing you wouldn't learn from any Aristotle class. Big happy middle class = stable country. It doesn't take a genius to know that a Plutocracy isn't a stable form of government, but to act like the US is only a few decades away from that is dumb. I would agree that if the US were to collapse, or civilization as we know it were to end that's probably more likely than a war type situatuon.... but not anytime soon.

I'm almost positive that only 1 episode of that Masterpiece was ever actually filmed in Cocoa or FL for that matter. I'm still daydreaming about Genie to this very day though.

@BonifayRam ... I spent a bunch of time at the Cape growing up. My Grandfather kept his boat at the Cape Marina for years.

"NASA has nothing to do with this" ??????? NASA paid for it.The study was sponsored by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and headed by the National Science Foundation's Safa Motesharrei.

The name Safa Motesharrei should tell the real story here. He works for the National Science Foundation, proposes that the collapse of Rome (and other empires such as the current American hegemony) could have been avoided if only communism had been embraced and effectuated.

I don't. It is too crowded for my liking there. One of my buddies keeps his boat there in dry storage,,, he only fishes out of the Cape because of it. Way too many peeps fish that area now for me. He tries to get me to come out there, but I never go. I usually fish out of Ponce Inlet... farther north.... the inlet separates Daytona Beach (North) and New Smyrna Beach (South). New Smyrna is closer for me. The Gulf Stream is a lot farther out (usually 40 - 50 miles) but I know the fishing is better. Fishing around the Cape offers a much shorter ride to the Gulf Stream (like 25 - 30 miles), but since the majority of Central FL seems to gravitate there... the fishing isn't as good.

There is a fishing area out of the the Cape known as Pelican Flats (offshore) that my Grandfather and I used to fish all of the time. I like to keep the memory of the great fishing we used to do there sacred. That area is way over fished now. Bummer.

My cat is basically a center console open fisherman type of boat. Fitting it with a sail would not be an option. Unlike most boats,,, my hull is always floating on a plane,,, it doesn't sink down. Most boats have to use the motors to push them up on a plane... my type of cat is always on a plane, even when sitting still.

I have often thought a small 8ft sail on my boat would be nice,KY lake where I boat most often has a fairly consistent southerly breeze in the summer and I've thought just enough sail to make it plane at 1/4 throttle would be nice for a 10- 15 knot liesurly cruise South to North. It takes about 17 or more to get my boat to plane .
As it is she is a bitch to pull out, so much above the water line being a full cabin that when there is a cross wind it needs guides on the rear of the trailer and is hard to anchor ,so she catches a lot of wind on here own and I've thought maybe just small sail would save a ton of fuel and be so much quieter.
Actually when I decided to buy a bout this go round I wanted a sail and was going to buy this beauty

http://www.sailboatlistings.com/cgi...ault&uid=default&ID=14144&view_records=1&mh=1

but mom wasn't up for the slanted deck under sail ,so I bought the Rinker, which is a nice ride and is just small enough to tow some tubers and skiers ,but I still pine for the leisurely "set your course" auto navigation a sail boat does.

@Thordaddy

Here's a pic of my boat. This was taken at Double Breasted Cay... we beach our boat here at the end of everyday when we are in the Bahamas. That's my wife and one of my best friends Jason Brown (Bahamian) in the shot.

You might be able to tell, but my motors are separated by about 4.5 feet. There is a ladder in between them... great for diving (getting in from the water).

When sitting still in the water, you can swim all the way through the hull in between the sponsons.

Hey George, do you put in at that marina that has the restaurant? I ate there last time I went down. It wasn't too bad.

No they didnt. They partly sponsored the HANDY model, which can be used to create multiple scenarios about the Earth. They had nothing to do with the conclusions they drew, and have stated so themselves.

Yeah every time you see the "disparity of income" argument made you KNOW it's one in favor of communism ,HOWEVER we have "lasted" 250+ or- years and LOOK how fast communism took to collapse in the Soviet Union.
Then you get the "it started out but didn't finish communist" meme ,but that only means it took LESS time for communism to collapse and THEN you got the horrors like the 7 million Ukrainians starved to death intentionally by some trying to "save" communism.
That's what BLOWS me away about what's going on over there now, how quickly the memory of that Soviet imposed "holocaust" (Harvest of Sorrow) has faded from the consciousness BECAUSE every generation HAS to learn about the evils of state ism for themselves because us old fools learned nothing beyond what their stateist leaning textbooks teach them.

IMO we need to take the vote away from everyone below the age of 28, and just SO the old don't send the young off to war if ya can't vote you shouldn't be in the military

If you're talking about Ponce Inlet... I'm guessing you ate at either Inlet Harbor or Down The Hatch. Both those places are cool spots to stop and chill from the water,,, they both have boat parking and we like to hang at both depending on the bands. Those are on the North side of the inlet,,, I actually put in on the south side of the inlet in New Smyrna though. We head up the intercoastal from there about a mile or two in order to get to the inlet. Those places are right there by the lighthouse. Should have called me Bo.

And anyone over the age of 55 should have their license taken away because their reactions are too slow and their mind is slipping. Probably means they aren't of sound mind to vote either.

I usually stop reading anything once it starts with the "fairness" mantra. Like you said, it's a brainwashing attempt for the joys of socialism/communism/marxism. All three deserve to die.

Inlet Harbor was the place. I love the way that place is buried from the main drag. You think you are lost wandering through residential areas to get to it. Of course, I'm sure it's a total different view coming in from the water. Yeah, I know I need to pick up the phone more often. :notworthy:
