This ref actually blew this call the exact same way it happened in our game. Geno got hit with intentional grounding, but it was because the WR ran the wrong route. He wasn’t under pressure or anything. Exact same thing happened in our game with Tutu. He ran the wrong route, Stafford thru the ball downfield expecting Tutu to be there, and got hit with a grounding call.
This is something the league should address. Grounding is meant for plays when the QB hurriedly gets rid of the ball under pressure with no actual intent to hit a receiver. It’s not meant for plays when the receiver simply runs the wrong route.
