Suspended former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has already met with the Tennessee Titans and is on the verge of becoming the Titans' assistant head coach, according to league sources.

Before Williams can finalize a contract with the Titans, however, he first must be reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell -- a move that could come as early as this week.

Should Williams be reinstated, no obstacles are expected on the contractual front, according to sources. The two sides are familiar with each other, with Williams having worked in Tennessee from 1997-2000.

Williams already has met with Titans officials, including head coach Mike Munchak, who is said to be in favor of Williams' addition to the staff, according to sources.

Additionally, former Titans and St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher has endorsed Williams to his former employer. Fisher hired Williams to lead St. Louis' defense this season, but Williams' suspension for his role in the Saints' bounty scandal lasted the entirety of the 2012-13 season. Williams was not retained by the Rams at season's end.

Neither Williams nor his representatives could be reached for comment.

Wow Jeff Fisher continues to amaze me. He realizes that bringing Williams back is not in the best interest of the Rams and does not rehire his son Blake who by the way only signed a one year deal so technically was not fired he just was not extended.

Then he endorses Gregg Williams to head back to the Titans who are in dire need of help on the defensive side of the ball being that they just had a staff shake-up inlcuding the dismissal of newly hired LB Coach Frank Bush.....As the Football World Turns.

Also something could be in the works with Titan Strength & Conditioning Coach Steve Watterson because currently Watterson holds the title "Assistant Head Coach" and if Williams is hired you can't have two "Assistant Head Coaches" on the same staff so IMO Watterson could be on his way to St. Louis and maybe that is why it's taking so long announcing the hiring of Ryan & Bush because they are going to add one more coach...Just a thought.

I would be freaking ecstatic if we got Steve Watterson, the coaching staff additions alone are gonna make this a great offseason! :bign:
