Redskins-Cowboys: Game day notes and fast facts
By Mike Jones

The Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys meet for the first time this season in a Monday Night Football matchup that carries significant implications within the NFC East. With a win, the Redskins (5-6) would take a full-game lead over the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, who are both 5-7. The Redskins hold tiebreakers over both the Eagles and Giants.

Now, here are some other things to look out for tonight:

>> The Redskins enter this game in search of back-to-back wins for the first time since Weeks 7 and 8 of the 2014 season. That win in Week 8 came at Dallas on Monday Night Football.

>> Washington enters with a 41-65-2 record against Dallas. The Cowboys have won three of their last four meetings with the Redskins.

>> Washington holds first place in the NFC East entering December for the first time since 1999. With a win tonight, Washington would extend its home winning streak to six games for the first time since the team did so in 1991.

>> A win would improve Washington’s divisional record to 3-1, ahead of the Eagles (2-2) and Giants (2-3).

>> This represents the 17th Monday Night Football meeting between the Redskins and Cowboys. That ties the Broncos and Raiders for the most-played matchup in Monday Night Football history.

>> The Redskins and Cowboys enter this game with 8-8 records against each other on Monday nights.

>> Washington’s defense seeks its fourth three-takeaway game of the season after doing so in Weeks 5, 6 and 12. That’s the most the Redskins have recorded since 2012’s six three-takeaway games.

>> Washington has six multiple-takeaway games, the most since the eight the defense notched in 2012.

>> Washington’s offense didn’t turn over the ball last game. The Redskins aim to extend that turnover-free streak to two games, which would mark a first since the 2012 offense went four games without a turnover.

>> After limiting the Giants to 33 rushing yards — the fewest allowed by the Redskins since 1990 at Indianapolis — Washington’s defense will try to continue its stingy ways against Dallas.

>> Quarterback Kirk Cousins has a chance to become the first Redskins quarterback to post four consecutive regular-season 300-yard passing days. Cousins enters this game with four career 300-yard days, and a fifth in a single season would tie a team record with Sonny Jurgensen in 1967, Jay Schroeder in 1986 and Mark Rypien in 1989.

>> Cousins enters the game with 34 career touchdown passes and stands one shy of Brad Johnson, who ranks 13th on the franchise’s career list , and four shy of Mark Brunell’s 38.

>> Cousins has a chance to become the first Redskins quarterback to throw a touchdown pass in each of the first 12 games of the season since Jurgensen in 1967.

>> Cornerback Quinton Dunbar enters this game hoping to become the first Redskins rookie to pick off a pass in consecutive games since Carlos Rogers in Weeks 11 and 12 of 2005.

>> Wide receiver Pierre Garcon needs three catches to tie Michael Westbrook for ninth on the team’s all-time receptions list.

>> Wide receiver DeSean Jackson looks to add to his total of 50-plus-yard touchdown catches. His 23 rank fifth-most in the NFL since the 1970 merger. Baltimore’s Steve Smith Sr. has 24 and ranks fourth on the list.

>> With another 50-plus-yard touchdown catch today, Jackson would have posted his first three-game streak since Weeks 14-16 of the 2009 season.

>> Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan looks to extend his sack streak to three games, which would mark the longest for him since he did so in Weeks 12-16 of last season. Kerrigan, who had two sacks in last week’s game, seeks the first back-to-back multiple-sack game of his career.

>> Tight end Jordan Reed looks to add to his career highs in receptions (55), receiving yards (541) and receiving touchdowns (six). With a third multiple-touchdown reception game, Reed would become the first Redskins tight end since Jerry Smith (four in 1967) to score two or more touchdowns in at least three games in a season.

Some connections between these teams:

No no, we need the Cowboys to win. We want to pick higher than them.

I can use that... My mantra for tonight is "either way I win!!"

How in god's name did Washington put 24 on our defense? Dallas is atrocious on that side of the ball.
