I am doing yellow split pea soup, with ham. Corn bread muffins.
I can start that this morning, get it cooking, then I have a few yard chores before pregame. It will be ready middle of early games.

My GF and her sister finished the homemade tamales and birra de res (beef) for tacos about an hour ago then went to bed. I'm going to grill burgers for the kids. The homemade guac and pico de gallo is in the fridge. GF's family from Agua Prieta and Nogales are bringing the cerveza (beer), tortillas, and chips (both homemade). Real simple this week.
My neighbors probably will drift in for beer and food. LOL They are Bird fans but not obnoxious, and most don't like Kyler. The guy across the street (a gringo) has been hitting on GF's sister for 2 years.....poor desperate guy. She's good looking and just teases him to death. He comes over every game day. He always pays his way with 48 cans of beer (Mexican of course).
It's always a good time with equal family and neighbors and a ton of kids. I have 2 TVs set up a 55" and a 50" (from my bedroom). Yeah win or lose it's a good time for everyone. My son long ago learned the value of family. He was raised as I was raised, family first. He and his Korean GF will be bringing Korean BBQ ribs!! He's been a Rams fan his whole life, spending most of his childhood with his mother in Springfield, MO. He was overjoyed when they moved to LA and we were in San Diego.

Just a couple ideas,can always freeze cooked bacon for like days you need that like hearty meaty flavor.Such as your soup,chowders,& bacon potatoes(next day skins).Example game day streak & bakers.Monday Night potato skins with all the fixings(cheese,sour cream,g.Onion)
Diced carrots,celery are nice healthy hearty choice if you want substance.Can add more water if it gets think, reduce it to consistency.Can always use a little cornstarch as well to Coagulate.

My hope is Herbert stays healthy for LA(lol).
Have to laugh at how Authentic your party(family) is going to be.Wish my Mexican GF would make food like that with me.Then again this morning’s makings was the healthier choice.

Its been a few years so I ordered a DEEP dish pizza from Gino's East. Sausage, Green Pepper, Mushroom & Onions.
You had me until you said the forbidden vegetable....asparagus.
Have a giant Dutch oven of chili simmering and a half Bushel of large MD Blue crabs for the pickin.
I made a Rolled Rump Roast with potatoes and carrots for the family.

one with smoked oysters with a garlic jalapeno sauce and queso fresco cheese and the other with homemade sausage ( from a friend) , shiitake mushrooms and peppers from the garden with Mozz and ricotta cheese
