Last season Garrett had 23 sacks from 563 opponents dropback passing plays, which is about 1 sack for every 24.47 passing plays. The Rams defense faced 658 dropbacks in 2025. 658 divided by 24.47 is about 27 sacks equivalent.

The Rams also have better players for Garrett to be alongside with this year, starting with Donald. Because of that, I am going to add three additional sacks and predict Garrett gets a new record of 30 sacks!

Edit: After reading some other replies below, maybe my 30 prediction is a little high...lol!

We will see nearly ALL opponents go 12 and 13 personnel.

Statistics will be posted by mid-season noting record-breaking quick snap-to-throw times by opposing quarterbacks.

Rams defense will force very high 3-and-out numbers and pitch 3-5 shutouts this year.

The Rams yards and points on defense will draw comparisons to '85 Bears and 2000 Ravens defenses.

Sacks:

Garrett 21
Donald 16
Young 15
Turner 12
Stewart 10
Fiske 8

I think the Dline will be much fresher this year due to all the talent that they can cycle in. Also the D is not going to be giving up many long drives. So Garrett and AD will be getting way less plays but the overall D will be close to the league record for sacks. Both AD and Garrett will be in the 15 to 18 sack range though. Gona be a lot of turnovers and Defensive TDs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Garrett's snap counts are lower than in Cleveland. Keep him fresher come January. Put pressure on Darnold and Sam's gonna Sam. His main job in the Superbowl was to not turn it over and let the defense and run game win it. They won't have that luxury against the Rams. Our secondary, which was projected to be pretty bad before the season, lived up to the expectations in that last game.

Teams are gonna have to get 1st downs in order to run enough plays for Garrett to see 500 drop backs. So I'll go with 21 for Garrett and 17 for AD, almost 40 between them.

I looked up the 85 Bears and the 2000 Ravens stats. They were two great defenses.
Grok had a 3 more passing attempts against the Ravens. Bears had a much better offense and bigger leads early in the second half.

Total for the Bears players. I find these stats interesting and am posting them; I hope no one minds.

Here is the list of individual regular-season sack totals for the 1985 Chicago Bears, ordered strictly from highest to lowest:
  • Richard Dent (DE) – 17.0 sacks
  • Otis Wilson (LB) – 10.5 sacks
  • Steve McMichael (DT) – 8.0 sacks
  • Wilber Marshall (LB) – 6.0 sacks
  • Dan Hampton (DE/DT) – 6.5 sacks
  • William Perry (DT) – 5.0 sacks
  • Mike Singletary (LB) – 3.0 sacks
  • Al Harris (DE) – 3.0 sacks
  • Tyrone Keys (DE) – 2.0 sacks
  • Dave Duerson (S) – 2.0 sacks
  • Jim Morrissey (LB) – 1.0 sacks

Garrett 15
Agent 0 10
AD 10
Turner 8
Fiske 8
Steward 7

Thats 58 sacks there. I cut back on Agent 0 and AD. A lot will depend on PT and resting the hurt and older players.

That's 14 from them. That would be 72 sacks. Early opinions are that Shula will rush four a lot. I think he sticks with some blitzes from different players and positions. He will become the defensive mad scientist with play design matching McVay.

Edit: I should have gone for the record. I'll give Bailey 1 sack, but he could have more for 73 total.

25. I say he breaks his own record. He did it for a terrible team that seldom played with a lead. Lots of runs in the 4th quarter for him.
And he will have AD close by getting his own share of attention.
Its going to be this vicious circle OF SACKS in 2026.
O lines are not going to know what to do.
Its good to be The Rams.

if AD comes back the defense will be a total nightmare for the rest of the league...

we got the pass rush..

we got the elite secondary...

and the linebackers are capable..

nightmare.... period...

go rams
