Sort of like having a jock strap on. It’s fitting & very supportive.

LMAO - I was never a fan,but on occasion it is some what mandatory. I remember trying to Nuck the system once & never again.

Anyway there was somebody I knew in the stands for one of my first games umpiring & didn’t have a jock strap, but whitey tighties. It was one of the worst feelings adjusting a Cup & hoping it didn’t fall out as well. Don’t know how I got in that situation, but talk about being relieved after the game.

In hinsight, perhaps a little Less attention on athleic supporters ... and
... a bit More attention on protective head-gear, may have been the better way-to-go.

What the hell is this guy talking about. They're different sports. Can derrick Henry dribble the ball for 30m? He'd probably fall over.

.
It’s just for fun by the anti soccer crowd,
I love many sports and have no need to shit on any of them.
I think it is the world wide popularity and the enormous scope of the World Cup and the sharing of the name football that brings on some of this

P.S Belgiums Lukaku is an inch taller @6’3 hits 22.6 mph both taller and faster than Henry 6’2” 21.8
but does give up some weight @ only 227

I don’t know if he could tackle him or not but he would catch him

Quit making excuses for those guys. Know how many Belgian teams have ever won a Super Bowl? Zero. Zero-point-fucking-zero.

USA? 60 out of 60 so far. We rule.

Not talking about the upper level players and how it has developed here but one of the main reasons soccer has caught on world wide is that you can play it practically anywhere as a kid. If you have a ball, you can start up a game. Now a days in the US it is still without a doubt the most participated in sport for young kids. But unfortunately, the opportunity to get really good is not available to most US youth. It’s still possible in the future though as it is still gaining popularity.

Baseball got a huge head start here and football in a lot of rural areas did as well. Basketball has come a long ways from being almost exclusively urban.

Still, US tastes are what they are and that makes for an uphill climb.
Dynamic, game changing big plays are just lacking in soccer, imo.
In the USA, I don't see soccer ever really competing with the NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB from a massive fan base perspective.
The head start has won.

Soccer is so popular word wide because all you need is a dirt lot, 4 sticks and a ball and you have a game. The poor can play it easily.
Myself, any game where you can not use your hands goes against nature.
Its a lesser game than the NFL any way you want to cut it IMO. Boring, fake injuries, no tough guy culture.
We tried, we lost, had a good run.
OK, now when does the NFL start ?
If all our young kids grew up with soccer as the main sport we would dominate it too. If the athletes we have playing NFL cornerbacks, wide receivers and NBA guards played soccer their whole lives it would be very different.
The best thing this World Cup has brought America is all the fans showing up in Middle America and thinking the USA is a great place and they had been lied too.

Don’t forget MLB players. Imagine Mookie Betts or Mike Trout growing up playing soccer 24/7. Not to mention guys like Stanton, De La Cruz, Judge, etc.

But they do. Just drive around. Tell me how many soccer set ups you see for young kids, then look for baseball, football, or basketball. I drive by two fields every day here in Reno where they have at least six small soccer fields set up and packed with little kids playing soccer and a bunch of soccer moms.

I think it’s great because of all the sports kids could be out playing, soccer is probably the best for them health wise.

Mmmmm….soccer moms!

Soccer is like the crazy uncle that you have over at Thanksgiving. You have to tolerate his crap periodically but you can disengage in between visits.

All you have to do is analyze the shots-on-goal numbers, red card fiasco and the BS Argentina "comeback" in the World Cup and you can't help but see the light.
