I've been extremely impressed with Haith so far. I'll admit that I didn't like his hiring, but he's classy, good to his players, and he wins games. That's all I care about in college sports; with him and Gary Pinkel at their respective helms, the future has never looked brighter for Mizzou.

Lombardi basically brings up the same issues that I've been raising regarding SK's comments about implementing the Patriot methodology. I don't think SK really understands it, nor has done the homework necessary, or is really prepared to implement the Belichick way. I'm now seeing SK's comments as little more than nice sounding sound-bites.

Basically, we're hosed. I have no confidence that there is anyone in the organization that knows what they're doing.

I have a lot of crow to eat on Haith, and I'm very glad to eat it. I was totally off on that one. When Painter decided to stay at Purdue, and Mizzou hired Haith I thought it was just "whoever was left" and we screwed our program for the next 5 years. I nearly pulled my membership from the alumni club. Jesus, I'm glad I was off on that one.

As far as SK trying to take on the Belichik way, I don't think he's trying to create the Patriots Midwest. If you listen to the statements that SK made and Demoff's interviews, they are clearly looking at ALL successful franchises in ALL sports and even businesses to see what works and what doesn't. They apparently even talked to Mozeliak about how he was able to create the deepest organization (from minors up to the major league team) in baseball. How the Patriots became so good for so long is obviously something that would interest him. We'll see how it plays out.
