Former L.A. Rams would like current L.A. Rams to bring back old uniforms

The Rams tweaked their logo when they got the green light to move back to Los Angeles in time for the 2016 season, but they’ll be wearing the same blue, gold and white uniforms they wore as the St. Louis Rams.

At an event at the Los Angeles Coliseum Thursday, several retired players who played for the first iteration of the Los Angeles Rams said they would like to see that change. They want to see the blue and yellow uniforms from those days make their return with former defensive end Fred Dryer calling the current look “a disgrace.”

The Rams will wear the old uniforms as throwbacks twice this season, but won’t apply for a permanent uniform change until next year. With NFL rules mandating a two-year wait from that point before new uniforms can be put into use, any designs on a new design will have to wait for their move into their new stadium in 2019.

“The blue and yellow uniforms are our throwback alternate jerseys and we can wear them twice and we will wear them twice,” Rams COO Kevin Demoff said, via ESPN.com. “We’re working on new uniforms to open up the new Inglewood stadium in 2019. We’re going to figure out a program in the interim to make our fans happy but also build for the future in Inglewood. I know it’s important to our fans. But I know it’s more important to have the team back and the jerseys are next, but it’s great to see the players wearing those colors.”

For those of us of a certain age, the uniforms the Rams wore for most of their time in St. Louis never seemed quite right after growing up watching Jackie Slater, Kevin Greene, Henry Ellard and others in the blue and yellow. It seems the Rams are headed back in that direction even if they aren’t hitting the hole anywhere as quickly as Eric Dickerson did when he was wearing them.

I've always been partial to the yellow and blue myself.

99 uniforms were the coolest. dont know if they were changed before that.

Blue and white would be ok for like a cpl away games. Not the biggest fan of them thou.

At this point as long as they get rid of the collars and never wear the blueberry combo again I will be happy.

The point is, they will keep the current colors, and people will be forced to buy them as is. Then when the new stadium opens up, they will switch colors, and people will buy the new colors then. It's simple marketing, and extracting as much money from your target market as possible.

This is just an opinion, but I have a feeling this is what it could look like come 2019.
