I agree they all should go , but imo , the first one on the list should be peters . We can't have a player that shys aways from contact , who doesnt want to get his uniform dirty . Add the fact that he is not very good at coverage ...... I don't even know how many times he was beat this year .
Well the damning thing is i guess his contract is up after this year and no way we pay him big like someone else will.

Peters is still under contract next season. This is year 4 of his contract. We picked up his 5th year earlier (or the chiefs did, either way).

REPORT: Los Angeles Rams soured on DT Ndamukong Suh, wanted DE Jerry Hughes over EDGE Dante Fowler

Well, it’s fair to say nobody has stepped up and taken advantage on the defensive line playing next to Aaron Donald.

By Sosa Kremenjas

https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2018/...-suh-dante-fowler-jr-jerry-hughes-mike-florio

In a piece at ProFootballTalk yesterday, Mike Florio reported the Los Angeles Rams’ first choice of defensive end at the trade deadline after souring on DT Ndamukong Suh was actually DE Jerry Hughes of the Buffalo Bills not OLB Dante Fowler Jr from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The trade for Fowler was a bit of a desperation move for the Rams who lacked any semblance of a pass rush from the edge. Hughes — who has 6.5 sacks on the season — is simply a much better player. He’s more polished, offers a veteran presence, and has been incredibly productive over the course of his career.

Florio also talks about how the experiment of adding Suh in free agency could be viewed as a failure. Personally, I have a hard time disagreeing. The trio of Suh, DT Michael Brockers, and Fowler have the opportunity of playing alongside the best player in football in Aaron Donald. Individually, Donald can’t be stopped, as evidenced by his 16.5 sacks on the season. The remaining trio has a combined 6.5 sacks on the season. Teams have to double- or even triple-team him to stop him with any consistency. But as of late when teams have done just that, Suh, Brockers and Fowler have struggled to succeed with consistency despite Donald drawing such overwhelming attention.

Suh was added to complete one of the most dominant defensive lines we could have ever seen, but it simply hasn’t translated. It’s evident that Suh is no longer a dangerous pass rush threat. It also doesn’t help that the Rams are tied for dead last in allowing 5.0 yards-per-carry.

Look for the defensive line (and front-seven) to be retooled in the offseason.

Suh hasn’t been THAT bad. He’s definitely shown his age. But it’s not like he’s been a complete bust. I still like Fowler over Hughes strictly because of age.

Inwoukd rather take the money the team was spending on Brockers and get a couple of DL more suited to a 3/4.
Good, solid vet type of guys. An anctual Dline rotation would be nice.
I'm undecided on Brockers.
He has been so good for years. I can only guess that this kind of fall off in his play is either him being miscast in his role or an injury.

FWIW I have never been a fan of the 3-4 defense, always felt you were too susceptible to the run, however, next year I could see them moving on from Suh and Brockers and going with Sebastian Joseph-Day at NT and John Franklin-Myers at the other DE position, with Fowler, Okoronkwo & Ebukam and maybe another free agent addition rotating...Fowler been a good addition, he's an upgrade, although I was hoping for more especially against the Eagles, where there was not pressure at all.

I'm also hoping for some changes on the defensive staff, but that's another thread that has been posted already.

Seems like defenses are now committed to keeping Donald from wreaking havoc. No matter how many blockers it takes. Even if it means one blocker for the other guys. You would think with Donald being double and sometimes triple teamed just bringing a 5th rusher would be too many to block. But it ain't happening. Those other guys are not taking advantage of the one on one opportunities.

I have been more positive towards the 34 D over the last decade mainly due to the large amount of outstanding 34 D Edge Rushers/tweeners entering the draft every year. In most cases usually there is a very small amount of good 43 DE's in the draft. Sure enough Snead has drafted five tweeners on the last days of the drafts (4th thru 7 th rounds) in the last two drafts but thus far he has not hit on any:(.

With the Rams investing in the selection of 5 tech DE John Frankiln-Myers in this years draft, who has had a very good rookie season & comes @ a much lower cap cost that Brockers. Rams will also have another lower cost 5 tech DE reserve returning from the Injured Reserve is the 6-3 275 lb Morgan Fox (who will be a RFA) who will be entering his 4th season in 2019.

Any member here think they can muster up a good pro argument for the reason to keep & pay Brockers a near 11 mil next season to start & play the 5 tech post?

Sure - He is a steady and very solid player through out his career with this being a rare downseason due to playing through a shoulder injury?

But I know I am wrong, every player except Donald must be replaced because the unknown might be better than what we have.

Now I mentioned the shoulder injury over a month ago myself. I even suggested that I would not be surprised if @ the conclusion of this seasons we would see hear something to this effect. My position now is there is no proof anywhere that I can find, that Brockers has an unhealthy shoulder. So I would have to go with what is known with the belief that Brockers is as good as he will be in this Wade defense in the 5 tech post.

Does the fact that this closing window of opportunity to try to get to the SB here before Goff's pending future contract ......can this Ram team afford to take the cap hit & pay a near $11 million in 2019 based on Brockers for being a "steady and very solid player through out his career"? Could the $11 million spent elsewhere to provide a much better player who can make big plays in this defense? Is starting Brockers in the 5 tech DE post the best position for him to help this team in this Ram D?

Now teams are always doubling and tripling Donald. They use to do it about 70% IRRC.

I thought Brockers lost too much weight. He was more a run stuffer before. Now, he gets handled by one lineman. He never was a great pass rusher. Rams gambled on Suh and didn't get the ROI that 14 Million should get them. He has been average???? It's time for a better overhaul of the defense. They need some young studs and maybe a big NT Vet. Too bad the Bills didn't want to trade Hughes and Jr Galette is a head case. Those two could have changed the defense this year.

Apparently, The Cardinals didn’t take Alex Boone’s advice since they didn’t seem to handle Aaron Donald too well! Sometimes, It is much easier said than done!!!
