Falcons have the league’s easiest schedule in 2015
Posted by Darin Gantt on February 12, 2015
There was a time — and it wasn’t that long ago believe it or not — when the NFC South was one of the toughest divisions in football.
But with the Southern culture on the skids last season, it’s now statistically the easiest.
According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Falcons have the benefit of the league’s easiest 2015 schedule, based on last year’s records.
Of course, the transient nature of the league guarantees that numbers such as this one will eventually become less meaningful with time.
But for the moment, the Falcons play opponents next year who had a .409 winning percentage in 2014, edging out the Colts and Texans for the easiest slate.
The Falcons play just four teams which had a winning record last year — the Eagles, Colts, Texans and Cowboys.
Of course, because the NFC South plays each NFC South team twice this year, and draws the equally bad AFC South in the rotation, it practically guarantees their places at the bottom of the list.
The four NFC South teams occupy the 27th, 28th, 29th and 32nd spots on the list, with the AFC South checking in at 25th, 26th, 30th and 31st.
