I’m talking about ‘men among boys’ type dominance caliber studs.

Deacon Jones

Jack Youngblood

Eric Dickerson

Marshall Faulk

Kurt Warner

Isaac Bruce

Just to name a few as examples.

You know, those types of players that one can never forget. But those types are pretty rare and it’s unusual to have more than one on any given team at the same time. Rams once had 3 at the same time in Warner, Faulk, and Bruce and it was called the GSOT. Think about that for just a moment.

Well, I’m trying to wrap my mind around our current 2022 possibilities. I think we might just have 5 and maybe even 7 such talents on Rams roster for this season.

Matthew Stafford. Is there a better QB for this O in the league?

Aaron Donald. Need I say more?

Jalen Ramsey. If healthy, he’s the best CB in the league.

Cooper Kupp. Possibly the smartest football player on Rams since Faulk. And what a year he just had paired with Stafford.

Bobby Wagner. Yeah, he’s in the twilight of his career but it’s been a HOF worthy career with no signs of slowing down yet.

IMO, all 5 of these guys are All Pro caliber currently and constantly treat us to jaw-dropping plays. All will be future HOF’ers, I think.

Now I’m gonna add 2 more names for your consideration.

Allen Robinson. Yep, I’m projecting here because he just joined the team but I see him flourishing in his 1st year here like Stafford and Kupp did when paired last year. We’ve seen glimpses of what AR can accomplish with much lesser QB’s in vastly inferior O’s so I’m very optimistic about this guy for this year.

OBJ. He hasn’t signed yet and won’t be able to play until November, I know. But IF he signs then and joins this O mid season he will once again be making one amazing play after another. This O should be unstoppable. I feel that this last surgery cleaned up his knee and he will be good as he ever was, and I also feel strongly that he will re-sign with Rams. It makes too much sense for both parties.

So there you have it. A confluence of 5 All Pro caliber elites plus 2 more strong possibilities waiting in the wings to join this party. All coached by McVay and his staff.

How in the world did Snead put this all together for one potentially amazing season in the first place? Somebody pinch me!

Quite simply the best pass blocking OT in history of the game and a first ballot HOFer to boot!

Great to include Orlando Pace the original Mr. Pancake. I still remember what the late great PFW writer Joel Buchsbaum put as a weakness for Pace in his annual draft book that was always second to none. Buchsbaum wrote as a weakness for Pace: "We don't know how he's going to react to getting beat because it hasn't happened." Priceless.

I'm so happy that Stafford, Donald, Ramsey & Kupp experienced a Super Bowl victory. Players like Jones, Merlin Olsen & Jack Youngblood never did, however, happy Jack got there in 1979. Those Rams teams of the 70's were special, they were just missing a QB as who ever they had could not measure up to Roger Staubach or Fran Tarkenton and thus is why those teams always came up short.

I was not a fan of Pace’s run blocking. That keeps him off of the list for me.

Pete Carroll’s defense was bland. I am so anxious to see how Wagner and Jones are used and wether or not he can have an even bigger impact than what he had as a Seahawk. If so, get ready for opposing fans blathering about how unfair it is.

Bringing up AD I’ve recently been in some asinine arguments about TJ Watt being better than AD in every statistic. Some even say AD is handed his fame by the media.

It’s mind boggling that some people cannot see his greatness just by watching games.

Many fans also do not watch line-play. They just follow the ball. Some famous announcers too.

Was re-watching the Super Bowl couple days ago. On the Bengals’ possession right before the Rams’ game-winning-TD-drive, Mixon ran for about twelve yards on first down. Collinsworth said ‘the Rams got A’shawn Robinson right back in there after that run’; and Al Michaels agreed with a ‘you bet’ or ‘that’s right’.

No, it was Not right, or accurate, or truthful. Robinson was in the game on the Mixon run, and was well blocked on the play. There was a replay! There’s idiots were just making shit up. Most viewers would not notice or care because they don’t watch line play.

I’ve followed a lot of NFL football but only since 1972 so I can’t vouche for before then. I am confident is saying since 1972 there has only been one other defensive player close to AD and that’s LT. In my mind that’s non-debatable and idiotic to challenge but that’s in my mind.

Pace was a helluva LOT, but I think you overestimate him. He wasn’t even the best LOT of his time, much less in history.

IDK, IMO, Ram fans underestimate Pace because he was always battling the Rams with the Posten Brothers and his contract. I realize some feel that Jonathan Ogden or Walter Jones were superior, but not me. I will take Pace over both, but then again, Pace was a Buckeye.

He’d be in the running for a bronze medal for sure. He played on stacked PHI defenses for years and I somehow doubt he took on nearly as many double or triple team Blockers. But admittedly I am biased.
