Every sports media has someone directly or indirectly discounting the Rams as Super Bowl contenders this year. They are even saying Cleveland who should be better this year is a more likely contender than the Rams. Cleveland who couldn't beat a team with a winning record last year. Last I heard they still need to win their division. I think the Steelers might have something to say about it. Just having the "star power" doesn't mean they will play as a team. What happens with all that ego if the Browns hit a rough spot? I see at least 6 probable losses on their schedule. If they lose to those teams and get swept by the Steelers they are looking at 9-7 at best and they might not even get in as a wildcard.

You know what? I'm glad because it means this Super Bowl team is flying under the radar. Most are predicting an epic collapse with even some on the NFL net work saying the Rams won't even make the playoffs.

Which brings me to my point in this thread. Are there enough crows in this country for all of the nay sayers to eat next year? Would it make crows an endangered species? It's just one more thing that is going to make this season great. When I get to tell people I know that are spouting this nonsense "I told you so" when the Rams lift that Lombardi next year.

They don't eat crow. They just act like they never said it while offering up enough caviats to make them look like they still know shit from shinola.

They will eat it if I force it down their throats and I'm not shy about doing that.

503 is right. Being an on-air loudmouth sports analyst, means never having to say you are sorry or wrong. The most infuriating thing is when they are wrong, all they say is “nobody saw this coming!” Yeah buddy, sure...Lol

This is why I stopped watching sports media. Loudmouths but small brains. And like puppets, the producer tells them what their position should be and what they should say. Have some integrity.

Yeah, I think it probably works to our advantage to be an underdog.

The media likes to create new stories, and... I can see why there is buzz around other teams. But, yeah... we’re sort of “grouped with others” as far as best in the NFC.

Go out and start winning. That’s what we need to do.

I understand it, keep in mind these pundits nowadays know less IMHO. Even the national guys who played the game know less because we as fans follow the team far more closely. Browns are a trendy pick, that's nice for Cleveland, God knows they can use the hype.

It does not bother me because I turn a deaf ear to it and listen to other stuff as there were many who liked the Rams two years ago (Cowherd) and last season too....So you take the good, you take the bad!

Skip Bayless would be a crow cannibal if this was the case.

What about his buddy Sharpe.

I like Jalen. He makes fun & does try to keep things
real. He is not to much over the top of knowing it all.

I love how the media keeps saying, oh the blueprint it out to beat the Rams. All i can say is please try and run that same defense against us with a healthy Cooper Kupp and Gurley and we will see how fast they come out of it.

And seeing some of the so called experts pick us to not win the division or go 8-8 is too funny. But being the underdog is great i'm sure we will feed off of it.

The first quarter of games are stacked with quality opponents. If the Rams stumble at all, the crows will caw even louder.

I can’t help but remember every year it seems the Patriots suffer bad losses during the regular season and yet they turn it on in the playoffs. It’s almost like basketball where the best teams treat the regular season as a tune up for the real season.

I, for one, suffer terribly with every loss. I always have. Even I can become overly critical. If the media says something with merit, I can take that. It’s when they are flat wrong (a regular occurrence) that I can’t stand it.

With that said, I expect the Rams to be the last team standing at the end of it all.

It sure seems to be a trend. Pushing a narrative to support an outcome you hope to achieve when it is way outside the boundaries of rational thought typically isn't enough without supporting action to achieve those results. All it accomplishes is incredulity and; using the Saints championship failure as an example, subsequent outrage that has escalated into a lawsuit. You have to wonder if it ends evolves into a bribery investigation between the Rams and NFL officials that ends in rioting in New Orleans.

I guess it's all relative considering some soccer riots :)

Talking points. Or clicks and views. That is what its all about. Do they even believe what they're saying? Possibly not. They just need to have talking points. Accuracy is the last thing on their minds. If they're wrong just find another talking point. If they're lucky enough to be right once in a while they can crow about it.

I look at the people who stand to win or lose real money. The odds makers. Those guys seem to think the Rams have as good a shot as anyone in the NFC for a return trip to the Superbowl. The pundits don't have anything to lose.

Remember when every sports commentator was predicting the Rams would be that “up and coming” team like they are doing now with the Browns or 49ers - and we ended up just sucking.

Well now we are Championship contenders and everyone wants to bury us.

Predictions are horrible cause if you’re wrong you just never bring it up again, but if you get it right you can say “seeeeeeee.”

Unfortunately most super bowl losers have a history of regressing the next season with many missing the playoffs (unless it is the Patriots). I am not defending the idiots who think our Rams will regress as well but I can somewhat see the evolution of their flawed reasoning, which is probably based more on historical trends and an anti Rams bias.

With minimal injuries I think this team will be really good again. I am not sure the offense will be in the top two again in scoring but it can be top 5. Where many pundits seem to be underestimating the Rams is on defense, which I think can be a top five unit if the key players stay healthy. The Weddle-Rapp combo is absolutely an upgrade over Joyner, the Kiser-Mathews combo will also be an upgrade over Barron and I agree with those that think the the Gains-Day rotation can be an upgrade over SUH in the run game-constancy department.

I am absolutely convinced the Rams are going to win it all this season. But still I'm not gonna call for that crow until it happens.

Right now the only real concern for me wrt this offensive roster is the OL. Defensively it's the CB position and whether they can handle Talib being injured. So there is room for things to go south, even though I doubt that will happen.

Pretty easy for the talking heads to predict a worse season when a team comes off a 13-3 record.:jerkoff:

Personally I look at the schedule and just laugh. This is the first time I've looked at my team's schedule and not see a single team that it can't beat. Case in point. Week 2 the Aints game. It's here not in NO so they lose their home field advantage. Week 11 the Bears game. Yep a great defense...it's in November....but it's here. Again the Bears won't have sub zero temp advantage and it is an advantage. It was clear Goff had trouble throwing a heavier slick ball. It's something that a QB needs to be used to.

Guys there isn't a team on the schedule that can beat his team. IMO the greatest threats to the Ram's season are injury and themselves. If they simply don't make stupid mistakes and stupid turnovers, this team is very hard to beat. Also they need to stay healthy. Their starters are elite in many positions. They have better depth. But as we saw, Reynolds as well as he played is no Kupp.

In the Super Bowl the Rams beat themselves. This team isn't last year's, it's far better. They are much improved on defense, and this time around, the game won't be too big for them. They know what it takes to get there and they know what it's going to take to win that Lombardi. That gives this team an advantage during the season.
