Look... I'm a Ram fan. It's my team, thick and thin. But with that, I think I've earned the right to bitch a little here and there.
Remember when the transition from Vermeil/Martz to Linnehan went down. The team offensively was built as a finesse team pretty much everywhere, but the OL.
Because the team was going to score points, the defense was also more of a finesse team. Smaller, faster defensive players that could get after the QB, and while they'd rarely have a punishing hit, they'd tackle you when they had the chance.
The current Ram team looks like the offense is lacking the physical OL and they simply refuse to take any chances deep. Yeah, there are some safe tosses beyond 20 yards but it just seems like they don't even think they can complete those attempts.
The current Ram defense is smaller and faster, but these guys aren't tackling well and if you don't have a high-powered offense to put up points then that speed generally loses to the physical nature of so many other teams.
I realize the team is young and they are going to make mistakes. But these guys have been tackling, running, blocking, catching and passing since they were little kids. These are the basics of the game and if you can't do those well, you are going to be a good team.
I actually thought there could be a minor regression this year in regard to the record. I have posts on other boards where I stated I thought the Rams could have a record worse than last year but be a better team. I'm not sold on the better team part any longer.
Are the Rams headed toward new coordinators, AGAIN?
WT?
