And that’s really saying something. Lol.

They’ve already taken a 4-12 team to the SB in just 2 seasons together.

In the process, Snead has assembled one of the most talented rosters in the league using every tool from trades to FA to the draft.

So, what do S&M do for an encore now?

Well, it’s only March 9th, but they’ve already made two tough, but necessary personnel decisions by releasing Sully and Barron.

Just speculation on my part, but I wouldn’t be terribly surprised to learn that they’re trying to convince Brockers to take a paycut to remain with the Rams.

Then they scored the Weddle coup by signing him quickly on favorable terms despite the fact that he had 11 offers in hand. This Weddle signing is similar to the Whit, Sully, Talib moves in that an experienced team leader has now been added. Not to mention mentor and locker room positives. Our secondary will now look a lot more “settled down”. Lol.

If they can somehow extend Saffold, and I know that that is a big IF, then they have reduced their “must have” new starters list down to maybe 3 positions.

Two edge players and Suh’s replacement on the DL. That’s VERY doable with remaining cap room plus their picks in this particular loaded draft on DL and at edge.

They seem comfortable with Allen replacing Sully and Kiser replacing Barron. Now, that may be posturing, but still...

If I’m reading these tea leaves correctly, then there will be plenty of resources left for depth and developmental players on both sides of the ball.

I fully expect this ‘19 Ram version to be far better than it’s ‘18 version.

I love watching elite FO people executing their well thought out offseason strategy.

What a great time to be a Ram fan.

Hot Damn!

2 edge rushers, Suh's spot on the D line, and an inside linebacker needed. That's 4 spots and still fairly doable.

McVay and Snead’s relationship based on maintaining “the standard” for the Rams

Just over two years ago, general manager Les Snead sat next to Executive Vice President of football operations Kevin Demoff and head coach Sean McVay, introducing the then-30 year old as the next head coach of the Los Angeles Rams.

The pair orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, going from 4-12 in 2016 to 11-5 in 2017, before making an offseason splash a year ago that loaded the Rams’ roster with superstars to the point that it drew comparisons to the NBA’s Golden State Warriors.

McVay and Snead steered the club to Super Bowl LIII in 2018 and now turn their football minds back to the future, looking ahead to 2019 and beyond with free agency scheduled to hit on Wednesday.

“I think it’s like any relationship, the more time that you are intentional about getting to know one another, having a mutual respect that exists, but you know when you also enjoy the person, it just continues to grow,” McVay said, describing the connection with Snead.

Leave it to the general manager to paint a picture of the pair’s partnership like one of his team’s top duos this season — more like offensive linemen Andrew Whitworth and Rodger Saffold.

“If it’s evolved, it’s — well he is a lot better than I was in terms of skill — but let’s make him a center and I’m the guard,” Snead said. “We kind of know what each other are thinking in terms of the big moves and when maybe we’re not thinking the exact same way, I think the chemistry that we have and the respect that we have for each other, you are able to talk through things.”

While Whitworth and Saffold protect the franchise quarterback, Snead and McVay protect the franchise. And McVay says that how he and Snead operate to keep the show on the road in L.A. boils down to their love of the game.

“The one thing that I think is important about [our] relationship is that we are both passionate about football,” McVay said. “We want to try to do our role to the best of our ability, and then it’s about us working in unison to figure out — whether it be players, organization — what can we do to set, establish, and maintain the standard for the Rams within the framework of our roles as leaders.”

Why do I feel like that's a stab at Fish. :D

Fisher was probably like "Hey Les... COFFEE. NOW!" From down the hall. :rolllaugh:

Snead loves to work a deal. As a Rams fan - it makes every phase of the NFL season very interesting (Free Agency, Draft, Pre Season, Regular Season). Couple that with Demoff's financial creativity and a coaching staff that has the ability to assess/cultivate talent and its a very exciting time to be part of the Rams organization (coaches, players, fans). Finally - the Rams are now (and hopefully with remain) a destiny for new players and veterans who want to be part of an exciting environment with an eye on sustaining success.

Honestly, I’ve been surprised by how FEW times there have been indirect stabs at Fish over the last couple years.

Snead/Fisher led to mediocrity and dysfunction, while Snead/McVay has been a dream team.

Given that, it’s impressive how they’ve been able to maintain respectfulness toward the previous regime. The players, too, have been careful and diplomatic when discussing the Fish years.
