Does anyone know why he’s still getting low snaps since being activated?
SJD can’t be that good?

Just wondering, or did he get hurt?

Still? It's his first game this year, and he's only been allowed to practice for a few weeks. He's most likely being eased in, I'd expect his workload to increase as the weeks progress.

You always hear that there’s no real way to get in football shape but to play in real games, we have the depth to be cautious.

Right. He had 10 snaps last game and I'm hoping for around 20 in Tampa. Best to ease him in gradually than risk a pulled muscle or something. I really think AR can help our defense get to an even higher level.

Go Rams!!!

Everybody got low snaps along the DL even AD had less than normal. Staley seemed to go with a lot of 2 DL sets and was rotating everybody around. See what happens this week vs a team with a better run game and healthy RB's.

The prob for Robinson is that our NTs are both good run stuffers. And Brock has been playing his ass off too. Even Fox has played well and brings it in the rotation. So he's looking at splitting time not a full time gig. This isn't a unit he's just gonna stroll in and get the snaps.

And this is a good thing. He's more talented than most of the other guys on the DL but he's going to have to work his ass off and earn playing time.

IMO vs some teams that are very run heavy he might sub in for AD. Because he's got a little juice to him but brings that lead in the ass for a heavy front. But again he's gonna have to earn that. This DL and how it's used is fascinating though, it's varied as fuck and can be tailored for different offenses.

Makes sense, for some reason I thought maybe he was banged up a little.

I was highly impressed by what I saw on his few snaps. Ability to break a double team quickly and make the stop for nearly no gain.

He’s more athletic and less fat man in the middle then I anticipated.

Agree with others, Brock, Fox and SJD have been playing their butts off so rotating 94 for now is wise. If he starts dominating inside then he will get more play time.

It's an outstanding rotation. One of the great things about adding AR is the tremendous d-line depth the Rams have now. I expect the rotation to be very situational but imo Robinson is going to get a lot of playing time. At the moment he's still just getting into playing shape.

AR's not going to take a back seat. He's not just a force but, along with Floyd, he's Staley's handpicked guy.

Yup this. I wasn't expecting him to have a lot of snaps being his first game. But I was happy seeing him make a presence. Can just imagine him with more snaps.

My football buddies from back in the day like to call these types "the pig" because they're around 330+ lbs and are hard to move out. I think the first guy we gave the nickname to was the Packers #93 Gilbert Brown back in the early '90's. The 330+ lb run-plugger trend may have begun with him after the Lions' Jerry Ball.* I'm glad the Rams finally have a legitimate one. I don't remember them having anyone of this mass on the line that actually made an impact. (Kennedy, Picket...no)

*Yeah the Fridge was earlier in '85 but there wasn't really a trend... other than the Vikings' "Icebox" Newton during that time, and neither really had a lasting impact because they were limited and regressed because of their weight.

The BAMA Boys is where it’s at. There is a FS no one is talking about either.
The Rams have excellent depth.

To me his injury never made sense. Watching him play those few snaps did show how big & strong he is & what a force he can be.

I like that Tre Lewis is also starting to get healthy. He seems to be getting more snap on the right OLB spot.Floyd lines up mostly on the OLB left.

M. Kiser is getting most of the snaps playing MLB.He is asked a lot.The front seven was more of a front 6 against the Hawks,so I guess that is part of the answer. Thus week should be a better test, but as someone stated about how good TAMPA’s running game being good. They only ran for a Game Record NFL low of FOUR TIMES 2 weeks ago against the Ain’ts.

The Rams got lucky Hyde & Carson both were hurt. That might have changed A” Robinson’s snap count as well.

He’ll get more snaps.
But, if the Rams stuff the run early the Bucs will abandon it.
If they are going spread and passing the ball most of the time Robinson probably won’t get many snaps again.

!00% correct! Going into the last 7 games Staley is going to be able to keep a fresh trio of DL'ers on the field. Staley might want to let Brady see a DL full of 6-4/ 6-5 in his face with Robinson/ SJD & Brockers. There might not be any room for Brady to step up into & then see through the triple towers.

This is where all those DL snaps are trending downward...........Last game we saw an HD use of LB'ers. Floyd/ Hollins/ Ebukam/ Lewis seems to be the main four.

Even in 2nd & long, you would see Rapp/ Fuller/JJ III & then look around & see Hill/ Williams & Ramsey. leaving two LB'ers as the Edge rushers (OLB'er) Kiser in the middle behind the two DL'ers. Even on first downs in the 2nd half, you would see 2-4-5 often.

Once Rapp went down the use of 6 DB's did not stop our DC just inserted Nick Scott (Who I thought did a good job in as deep safety). Brady is still accurate but his ball is not coming out with much velocity so it could be an epic Monday for Darious Williams.

Having a true DL rotation should always be the goal.
Being able to rotate fresh legs in even if they are just solid players who are scheme fits makes a huge difference down the stretch in games.

My thought here on the proper use of Robinson is to begin to work him in @ the 5 tech DE post with Brockers. I would like to see Robinson used primarily @ the 5 tech on 1st & 2nd downs. Robinson is a serious issue for those right side OL'ers on running downs.

Brockers should be used more often back to the original post he played the first two seasons in the NFL which was the 3 tech post on mostly first downs. Brockers is a savvy vet who can work both the 3 tech & 5 tech posts with ease.

I would sure use Aaron Donald to raise havoc playing him all over the LOS, but still being the starter @ 3 tech post on 2nd & 3rd downs. Staley stresses that his defenders be versatile in order to disguise his true intent.....Donald being used all over is going to get the attention of the QB & will cause him hesitation & concern when he is lined up double stacked or in an unexpected position less time to figure out Staley's defensive play.

Getting Brockers getting more snaps @ the 3 tech keeps Donald fresh. DL Robinson has fresh legs now & needs the work! I would not interfere with the youngins @ NT .....Sebastian Joseph Day & Greg Gaines.

A'Shawn Robinson talks Rams debut | 10 Things with Sarina Morales

1: First feels

Sarina:
First game with the Rams! How did it feel?

A'Shawn: It was great. Honestly, I felt all the energy from the guys. It was togetherness. It was great. In Detroit, it was a bunch of those things, but we just couldn't get the job done to actually win and I see that a winning culture here is critical.

2: Everyone is locked in

Sarina:
In your perspective, why or what makes this defense so good?

A'Shawn:The hard work that everyone puts in…day in, day out, on and off the field. I feel that everyone's locked in, in-tune with each other. We're all in on one goal ready to do whatever it takes, no matter what it is. No one is individualized. Everyone's together.

3: It's a vibe

Sarina:
You joined the Rams right in the beginning of the pandemic, and (tweet below) was hilarious and perfectly executed. What do you remember about that time?

A'Shawn: Honestly, I was very excited. So when they told me to do it, I was just like, yeah, I'm willing to do whatever just to show everyone that you're in and still give out the life and vibe that everything's still okay. It was exciting.

4: Motown music

Sarina:
I know you love Motown, what's your go-to song that you jam out to in your car?

A'Shawn: Doing it to Death by the J.B.'s (James Brown)

5: Karaoke

Sarina:
Go to Karaoke song then?

A'Shawn: The Temptations, Just My Imagination.

6: An outfit must fit

Sarina:
You are a pretty stylish guy, what is the key to styling for you?

A'Shawn: It's kind of having the package. Having the ice. The fabrics. Knowing what goes with the person. You got to look at the person. Look at the skin, you got to look at the hair. You got to look at everything about the person. The way they walk…an outfit goes into everything.

7: Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge

Sarina:
You said this team has been so supportive, but if you had to win at a game of dodgeball, which 5 guys would you pick?

A'Shawn: Alright. So, I'm going to pick [Cooper] Kupp, Rob [Woods], Jalen [Ramsey]… I need the hands. And then I pick AD [Donald]. I know he's gonna bring the power with me. Him and [Michael] Brockers. That's my team right there.

8: Foxx

Sarina:
If someone narrated your life, who would you want to be the narrator?

A'Shawn: Jamie Foxx

9: No gifts, just thanks

Sarina
: Do you decorate your home for the holidays?
A'Shawn: Only for Christmas. But I don't believe in all the gift giving, I just believe in the spirit.

10: Turkey first, then trees!

Sarina:
When is it okay to put the tree up?

A'Shawn: After Thanksgiving.

No gifts from A’Shawn - bummer if your a relative of his on Christmas.

I always clutch my butt hole when AD is out for a drive. But if we can get to a spot that A’Shawn is his replacement during those drives, I might be able to relax a bit.

I don’t mind if he’s continued to be used conservatively (assume we keep winning) and we truly unleash the AS/AD duo at their fullest in the playoffs. That’s my wish at least.
